Guests can explore and walk through our orchard and fields, visit our Camellia garden and our Woodland Garden overlooking our PRIVATE BEACH. It is easy to get on to the SW Coastal Footpath which is part of the 180 mile Tarka Trail. It is just 15 minutes drive to the cycling section of the Tarka Trail.
I would love to tick 'outdoor swimming pool - but it is the SEA, and it is a wonderful sheltered beach for rock pooling, swimming, sand castles, etc. etc., however, being England, many people enjoy the water more if they wear a wetsuit, which is easy to buy and very inexpensive in local shops!
The West Country region
Being a coastal farm we tend to have a micro-climate that is milder and drier than inland areas. The North Devon coast has a rich history of smuggling and wrecking and nearby Chambercombe Manor, c1200 is well worth exploring. Ilfracombe has a pretty harbour homing various boats for fishing and touring the coastline as well as crossing to Lundy Island. Around the harbour there is a good selection of shops & restaurants. Ilfracombe and Watermouth are within the Unesco Biosphere Reserve Area and an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Walking on the Morthoe Peninsula or Braunton Burrows shows the diversity of this region. Lynton & Lynmouth on Exmoor are near the fascinating Valley of the Rocks and Heddon Valley as well as Watersmeet. All glorious natural beauty spots rich in wildlife.
We are close to some wonderful attractions, such as Watermouth Castle, just half a mile down the road. This is a Victorian Museum set in glorious gardens which house a family theme park which is particularly good for 3 to 11 year olds. Exmoor Zoo, which does wonderful conservation work and has a huge variety of unusual creatures is just 15 minutes drive away and it is only 30 minutes to The Big Sheep. There are wonderful gardens open to the public and National Trust Properties, such as Arlington Court, just 6 miles away. Ilfracombe Swimming Pool is just a mile down the road and there are many riding stables and opportunities for quad biking, go carting, outdoor adventure centres etc. Outdoor and covered markets abound in summer and there are farmers markets all year round.
