The West Country / Devon region

North Devon is an area of outstanding natural beauty. Fabulous long sandy beaches stretching for miles at Woolacoombe , Croyde and Saunton world renowned for their excellent surfing . Walk along the cliff tops and enjoy the outstanding views across to Wales .
Discover Exmoor and its pretty moorland villages by walking, riding or car or further afield to Dartmoor and the home of The Hound of The Baskervilles story.
Enjoy a famous West Country cream tea of home made scones, strawberry jam and clotted cream or perhaps a wonderful meal of locally caught fish and shellfish. Lobster , crab and all types of fish all localy caught and delivered straight to the many excellent restaurants in the area. Try a traditional Cornish Pastie while wondering through one of the many pretty fishing villages or market towns.
Visit Plymouth a sea faring city with immense Naval history or Exeter with its beautiful cathedral and quaint shops. Barnstaple and Bideford both market towns within easy reach offering excellent shopping, markets selling local produce , restaurants and culture. The Westcountry enjoys a mild climate with warm summers and mild winters. Palm trees grow in many areas giving the area an almost continental feel.


Ilfracombe / Ilfracombe Harbour area

Ilfracombe offers a whole host of activities and attractions including fishing, an excellent golf course, mini golf,
multi screen cinema showing all the latest releases, theatre , indoor swimming pool, horseriding, beaches including the famous Victorian Tunnels Beaches to name but a few of things to do in Ilfracombe.
Ilfracombe harbour is a working harbour and enoys visits from The Waverley Steamer one of the few paddle steamers in operation today. This year Ilfracombe harbour was visited by its first cruise liner sure to be one of many.
The harbour has numerous excellent restaurants where you can enjoy locally caught fish and shellfish or perhaps go Italian, Spanish or Indian.
Try a harbourside pub where you can sit on the terrace overlloking the harbour and enjoy and an excellent bar snack.
Several take aways are also close by including a Chinese, Pizzeria and Fish and Chips.
Take a leisurely stroll around Capstone Hill and watch the fishermen fishing for mackerel or try a walk around and up Hilsborough for more serious walkers. From here you can carry onto Combe Martin a peaceful seaside village with Englands longest High Street.
If you visit in June you may catch Ilfracombe Victorian Week where the whole town gets involved in the Victorian theme from dressing to food, drink and events or visit in August when it is carnival week with a whole week of events organised .

The cottage has been fully renovated this year and is very comfortable in both winter and summer. 2 twin bedrooms and 1 double room all with natural wooden flooring. Modern bathrom with brand new suite again with natural wooden flooring. Very comfortable lounge with leather suite, flat screen t.v , video and dvd.
Cloakroom with new suite. Large kitchen/diner with modern kitchen and all appliances fully tiled floor and original ceiling beams. There is also a t.v and video here so guests can watch t.v whilst enjoyng a meal. This room overlooks the pretty cottage garden with palm trees which is a real haven for the birds.

Further details outdoors:
The garden has hardwood furniture and a barbecue . From here you can walk along the pedestrian only walkway direct to the harbour less than 200 metres away. The pedestrian walkway is used only by the residents of the row of cottages so the garden is completely private and quiet. Sit in the garden on a summer evening and enjoy a glass of wine amongst the flowers and fairies peeping form behind the bushes!


Further details

There is parking on the road outside but during peak periods it can be difficult to get a space . If this happens then you can park to unload then go to one of two car parks approx 3 minutes walk away. Weekly parking tickets for these are available from The Tourist Information Office situated in The Landmark Theatre. The cost of these are £12 to £15 per week and can be used at a variety of car parks in the area.


Conditions

Change over day is Saturday during peak season but can be flexible otside of this time. Short breaks of 3 nights accepted outside of peak season from £150.
A security deposit is payable of £100 for weekly bookings or £50 for short breaks . This needs to be paid at the time of booking and will hold your reservation for you. The rental cost becomes due 4 weeks prior to arrival.
Your security desposit will be returned to you in full within 7 days of your departure provided everything is found to be in order.
