In our humble opinion, our house is a gem of a place to spend your holiday and offers an ideal base from which to explore the island .
The property is located within easy reach of facilities yet is tucked away behind a private, gated entrance.
Forming one of a group of four, our home offers privacy and seclusion yet is located just 100m from the coast and promenade and 600m from the centre of La Flotte with its interesting year round market and diverse range of shops, restaurants, market and other facilities.
Our house is simply furnished but it is clean and practical and offers comfortable accommodation for 6/7 people.

The south western Atlantic French coast boasts immense beaches with fine golden sand, charming seaside resorts and pine forests. It has a recognised microclimate and enjoys more than 2300 hours of sun per year. It is an area where nature and sport are interlinked with everything at hand for an energetic stay be it walking, horseriding, cycling or surfing.
The historic, fortified city of La Rochelle is just 15 minutes form Ile de Re by car and offers a variety of recreational activities, places of interest, quayside restaurants and excellent shopping.
Ile de Re / La Flotte en Re area
The Ile de Re is one of the jewels of the Atlantic coast and measures 30 km in length and 5 km at its widest point. The island is composed of ten villages, which each respect the typical architecture of the area with their streets of white washed walls, green shutters and hollyhocks. With over 70 km of coastline, it also offers extensive sandy beaches making it a haven for watersports enthusiasts. The island is also a paradise for cyclists with about 100m of dedicated cycle paths and trails which link the 10 villages together. As the island is generally flat, this is an excellent and pleasurable way to explore the island. Cycle hire (plus the whole variety of attachments to suit all ages of children) is widely available.
All the natural open spaces are preserved - the vineyards, forests, salt marshes, oyster parks, which means the island remains unspoilt and a delight to explore.
La Flotte is a charming port town. The picturesque harbour is surrounded by a delightful range of restaurants, bars and shops. The town is a thriving community which means it is much more than simply a 'tourist town'. There is an excellent food market every day and, in the summer months, a general evening market plus, quite often, musical entertainment. All facilities in the town are within walking distance of the house.
We believe, whatever your situation, you cannot fail to have an enjoyable holiday on the Ile de Re. There really is something for everyone - it is a haven and inspiration for artists, writers, cyclists, walkers, birdwatchers, gourmets, explorers, fishermen and sailors.
How to get there
Ile de Re is linked to La Rochelle on the mainland by a 3km toll bridge. It is located midway between Nantes and Bordeaux.
BY ROAD: Calais/Ile de Re: approx 7.30 hours, 450 miles Cherbourg/Ile de Re: 6 hours, 320 miles St Malo/Ile de Re: 4.30 hours, 220 miles Boulogne/Ile de Re: 7 hours, 430 miles Bridge toll is seasonal: 9 euros 12 September to 19 June and 16.50 euros 20 June to 11 September
BY PLANE La Rochelle airport is 13 km by car from La Flotte from Stansted by Ryanair from Birmingham by Flybe from Dublin by Ryanair from Southampton by Flybe from Bristol by Easyjet from Gatwick by Easyjet (some flights are only operated during summer months)
CAR RENTAL: Rental is easily available from La Rochelle airport. Also Europcar in Ars en Re and La Flotte.
Do note that a car will not be essential during your stay at La Flotte as there are about 100km of dedicated well signposted cycle paths which connect the 10 ports/villages. Bike rental is readily available throughout the island and there are 4 cycle hire outlets in La Flotte. A car however, will be very useful for those wishing to fully explore the island.
BY TRAIN: The Atlantic TGV runs daily to La Rochelle reailway station fro Bordeaux and Paris-Montparnasse. Paris to La Rochelle is approx 3 hours La Rochelle railway station is 20 km from La Flotte

Further details outdoors: The coast is just 100m stroll away and is ideal for beachcombing, paddling, swimming and fishing.
The Ecole de Voile (sailing school) is two minutes walk from the house and offers a variety of courses for all ages throughout the summer. Booking in advance may be useful.
The walk to La Flotte centre from the house is along a promenade beside the coast and passes a children's park.
There is a sandy beach the other side of La Flotte, about 1km distant. This a gently shelving beach with a calm sea, ideal for those with young children.

CLEANING You may opt either to use our cleaning service at a cost of 65E for a full house clean or to clean the house yourselves to the same standard as at check in by 10 am on the day of departure. For two week bookings, a mid stay clean and bed linen change can be arranged, however, please be advised this will incur an additional charge. Please contact the owner for further details.
TO RESERVE A HOLIDAY A 30% deposit required to secure your booking, to be paid by electronic transfer in Euros. The balance due on your holiday should be paid no later than 6 weeks prior to the date of your arrival.
REFUNDABLE DAMAGE SECURITY DEPOSIT 1,000 Euros for a two week holiday and 500 Euros for a one week holiday, to be paid with the balance of your holiday payment. This will be returned to you witin 14 days of your holiday should there be no need to make a retention.
