About the home

19th century "chai" with original wooden beams and stonework. Restored in 2009.

3 large French doors open out onto sunny private courtyard and garden. Ground floor includes: large living area comprising living room/dining room and kitchen with lots of light; one bedroom (with French doors opening onto courtyard), and one large fully equipped bathroom (bathtub with shower, two washbasins, and w/c). Upstairs comprises 4 large bedrooms and 1 bathroom (shower, washbasin, and w/c).

The property is 800 meters from the beach, and 400 meters from the shops and restaurants of La Noue. Easy access to cycling paths. Thalassotherapy 5 kilometers. Private parking.

Quiet and private, this home although close to the village square is very spacious (175m2) and was redesigned with large families in mind.

High stone walls ensure privacy. Meals are often taken outdoors, either on the terrace, or under the sheltered "auvent" (seating for 11). Equipped with garden furniture and BBQ.

1) Rental periods consist of stays of one week or more from January 1st to December 31st. Rentals are from Saturday (arrival as of 4pm) to Saturday (departure by noon).
2) For the comfort of all, we have a no smoking policy inside the house
3) Sadly our pet friends are not accepted.

The Ile de Ré, with its several ports, many beaches, and low lying, whitewashed communities, has long been popular as a vacation spot for French families.

With the arrival of a causeway in 1988 linking the island to the mainland, the island's inhabitants have tried to manage growth without harming the island's charm and authenticity. Significant restrictions on new construction, and strict standards, have long existed.

The Ile de Re / Sainte-Marie area

The smallness (some 20 miles long and at some locations only yards wide), flatness, and variety (beach, forest, and wildlife) of the island makes it ideal for recreational cycling. It is also popular for sailing, and most water sports.

After a day of sightseeing and sport, many like to finish a summer day with an evening outside at one of the local ports' cafés, watching the boats come in.

Air: EasyJet, ryanair, and flybe all fly in to La Rochelle. Ile de Ré is a 15 minute taxi ride from La Rochelle.

Car: 300 miles south west from Paris (about 4 hours).

Rail: frequent TGV from Paris to La Rochelle (see SNCF website).

“The most charming getaway imaginable for sun, sea and relaxation .” I had a great stay with friends here . It is a beautiful spacious and light property with all the charm one would expect of the Ile de Ré . The bedrooms were well considered each with its own personal theme . Everywhere was clean , comfortable and well designed. The woodburning stove gave warmth and ambiance to evening relaxation after a stroll along the nearby beach which was well within walking distance. I would fully recommend this holiday let and can't wait to return there myself.

“FANTASTIC !” Village house on the gorgeous Ile de ré Just a discrete " havre de paix " very convenient, clean, lovely and easy going house perfect for families.

1) 25% deposit, payable by bank transfer, is required to secure booking.  Balance is due 8 weeks before arrival.2) Breakage deposit of Sterling 500.  Returned to you after your holiday subject to satisfactory property inspection.3)  Policy on End of Stay Cleaning:  Guests are asked to leave the property in a reasonably clean state.  While the property will receive a routine clean at the time of changeover, only a few hours exist between departures and arrivals.  Guests who leave the property unusually unclean will be charged at the rate of Sterling 20/hour.  The amount will be deducted from the breakage deposit.
