Charente Maritime is the mid Atlantic coast of France between Nantes and Bordeaux. Historic La Rochelle is the capital city of the department. Ile de Re is linked to mainland La Rochelle by a 3km tollbridge.The area is steeped in history and is a culinary delight.Ile de Re is an area of outstanding natural beauty. Beaches,forests,nature reserves,bird sanctuaries,salt marshes and oyster beds abound.The agricultural island is self sufficent in vegetables,seafood and wines to be enjoyed at home or in the many local restaurants.It is claimed that the micro climate of the island provides sunshine hours second only to Nice in the South of France.

Cycles are the accepted mode of transport. Hire your bike,meander through woods and vineyards along the marked signposted paths linking the 10 villages and park outside your chosen restaurant or on the beach.Visit Vauban's famous citadel in St Martin,the harbour at La Flotte,the 15th century lighthouse at La Phare and, en route, picnic by the sea which is never far away.

La Rochelle Airport 20 minutes.Flights by Ryanair from Stanstead,all year. Flybe from Southampton in season. Easyjet from Gatwick in high season.Car hire/taxi's at airport.4 hours drive from St Malo Ferry from Portsmouth. Other ferries to Cherbourg.8hours Calais.Bus from La Rochelle railway Station.

An Information Pack giving details of markets,restaurants,beaches and places of interest is provided on payment of the deposit.
A French/English speaking local agent will answer any further questions.

Conditions

A 25% deposit secures your booking. The balance is payable 8 weeks before your arrival.
A refundable damage deposit of £500 is payable on your arrival. It is repaid on your departure subject to a satisfactory inspection .
The owner lives in the adjacent property. The garden is shared with the owner.
