The property is in an excellent location on the beautiful island of Ile De Re close to La Rochelle. There is a beach and promenade across the road. This is where the islands kite surfing centre of the island is located. The house is in the centre of Rivedoux village across the road from the market which has fresh produce daily, shops, arguable the island's best boulangerie, beach and restaurants.
The property has been recently renovated and will be finished in May to a high top of the range specification. The bungalow can accommodate 4 guests. You have a private terrace and shared access of the outdoor pool and garden.

The department of Charente Maritime is situated on the west coast of France bordered with beautiful sandy beaches to harbours, salt marshes to coastal defences, oyster beds to vineyards.
The organisation of events such as Sites en Scène, Fort Boyard, La Rochelle's Fancofolies, the Festival du Cinéma, the Grand Pavois, the Whitbread Trophy and major international sailing events, the Saintes Académies Musicales and the Montguyon Music Festival all contribute daily to the heritage and vitality of Charente Maritime.
The pretty village of La Flotte 3 km away. A very enjoyable cylce .La Flotte is a very trendy fashionable fishing port which is now home to yachts rather than fishing boats.There are a large selection of gourmet French restaurants and seaside cafes to enjoy a meal, icecream , of cup cup of coffee while taking in the ambience of of the holiday village.
St Martin is also close by this is a larger town also very historic with plenty of evening entertainment and street fun . There is again a beautiful port with many restaurants , shops and a lively market.
Ile de Re / Rivedoux Plage area
One of the most beautiful parts of France, Ile de Re is the ideal place for a family holiday if you like to be active and enjoy cycling, watersports, beach holidays and true French culture. The village of Rivedoux has everything close at hand from beaches and shops to restaurants all within easy walking distance. There is a lovely promenade in Rivedoux to enjoy an evening stroll.
Ile de Ré, off La Rochelle is linked to the mainland by a bridge. It offers an idealized version of French life. Cars are in the minority; most people use the cycle paths that criss-cross the island’s vineyards, pine forests and salt flats. Ile de Ré salt is now predictably fashionable in gastro circles. The ice cream is hand made and the glorious sandy beaches - all open to the public - are well suited to shrimping and picnics.
Just 15km long and a mere 100 metres at its narrowest point, the island of Ré is home to 16 000 people. The residents congregate around ten main large villages, including St Marie de Ré on the island's southern most tip.
On Ré's southern side you will find many expansive beaches and on its northern side many yachting harbours. Though most visitors arrive in the summer, Ré has much to offer throughout the year - the temperatures may drop after September, but the sun is ever present all year round. Ré's close proximity to mainland cities make it an ideal place as a base camp to explore other cities (Bordeaux and Nantes are just two hours away; La Rochelle a mere 30 minutes). The construction of a bridge in 1988 puts everything within close proximity.
The house is in the centre of Rivedoux village. It is a quaint fishing village with plenty of restaurants and shops... The village has its own produce market, offering high quality fresh fish and locally farmed oysters, cheese and patisserie. Everything is within walking distance including restaurants, hotels, newsagents and a selection of other shops.
There is plenty to do for all the family to include a children's club on the Rivedoux beach during summer holidays. There is also a pony club for kids, a tennis club, and a watersport centre on Rivedoux beach providing jet skiing, wind surfing, etc. The excellent sailing school there provides 1 week courses for both adults and kids. A children's park is also closeby. Rivedoux is also home of the kitesurfing on the island , the best beach on the island is about 200 metres from the house. Opposite the house there is a promenade for walks on the balmy summer evenings. Along the promenade you can stop for a glass of wine or a meal at one of the restaurants.
Cycling is the most popular mode of transport. Although a car is not essential it would allow the exploring of surrounding areas. Renting bicycles for all the family is highly recommended. There are 60 miles of cycle lanes on the island of Ile de Re. It is easy to hire bikes for all ages including babies carriers.
The sea and beach is only steps away from the front gate!
How to get there
By Car Ile de Re is situated half way down the west coast of France between Bordeaux and Nantes. Ile de re is connected to La Rochelle by a 3 km bridge and it costs 16 Euros round trip to cross the bridge in Summer .
By Train From Paris to La Rochelle take approx 3 hours there is a bus from the train station to Ile De Re and stops opposite the house.
By Air Ryanair to La Rochelle from London Stansted or Dublin Flybe from Birmingham (5 minutes drive), otherwise it is a 2 hour drive form Nantes. Car hire Hertz or Avis at La Rochelle airport. Any flight to Bordeaux 2 hour drive.

Further details indoors: The bungalow is open plan with a mezzanine bedroom upstairs. The living area opens onto the terrace and garden at the back of the bungalow. The front door opens onto the pool. There is an open plan kitchenette/sitting room with comfortable leather sofa all new. The patio doors lead onto the private terrace and garden, all south facing. There is one bathroom with shower. In the kitchen there is an electric hob, dishwasher, fridge freezer microwave and washing machine. In the bungalows the seating is for 4 people indoors and outdoors. Utensils and cooking facilities are provided.

This house is under new ownership and will be decorated for the 2009 season. Children welcome.
Owners use the main house during summer months and share facilities. We are French and English speakers and are at hand to help you and can point you in the right direction for hiring bikes, recommending restaurants, suggesting beaches and any other local information that you might need during your stay.
When the owners are not on the island there is a management company appointed to deal with any problems. They are also English and French speaking. The management will prepare and clean the house leaving it ready for your arrival. They will be there to greet you with keys and provide information and assistance where required ie babysitters, house cleaning.
Towels and bed linen are supplied.
Conditions
Booking are Saturday to Saturday.
House swap for short period may be considered in a warm sunny place ** NOT UK/ IRELAND **
A 50 % deposit is required to confirm booking. The final payment is due 6 weeks before departure.
All deposits are paid by cheque on arrival and are returned once the management company has assessed any damages.
