This charming cottage with parking is set in walled and gated front garden and private courtyard back garden. It is 2 min walk to the delightful village square of La Noue which offers bakery-market -bike hire-deli- fish mongers, newsagents and restaurants.
A contemporary white-washed island home with modern amenities. Woodburner for cosy out of season stays Oct to Mar. Open plan living room, dining area and kitchen leads to quite child and adult friendly front and secluded back courtyard garden great for BBQs.
House has 1 bedroom with double bed, large family sized leather sofa and king size sofa/bed, fully equipped kitchen and bathroom, internet connection for use with your laptop subject to availability. Flat screen TV-french freeview channels and DVD player, DVD collection on site, making it the perfect base to explore the unspoilt villages, fishing ports and fabulous restaurants the island has to offer.
La Noue beach and children play park a is 5 min walk away with climbing frames, ping pong table, basket ball hoop and volley ball/badminton net.
The best way to enjoy the island is on bike and most of the island can be explored this way without use of a car.

House is well equipped bath and shower, triflow tap with water filter in the kitchen. Washing machine and dishwasher.

The Poitou-Charentes/Vendee region
The department of Charente-Maritime is situated on the west coast of France between Nantes and Bordeaux. Beautiful sandy beaches line the coast and the area is famous for its oyster farms vineyards and salt flats. The historic port of La Rochelle lies at the centre of the department and is the access point for the Ile de Ré.
The Ile de ré is a beautiful island just off the coast of La Rochelle a relaxing and idyllic place to holiday. Charming French villages in between it's dotted with nature reserves where multitudes of birds and wildlife live, protected from the advance of mass tourism and high rise.
The island is famous for its salt, which is collected by salters towards the western end of the island, its oysters and its potatoes, all of which you can enjoy in the many restaurants scattered throughout the island's villages.
The waters around the Ile de ré are loved by all watersports enthusiasts – windsurfers, yachtsmen and all sailors. The Atlantic Ocean is much less dangerous here than in other areas of the mainland coast so bathing is recommended for all.
To make your way around the island, get yourself a bike – it is by far the easiest and healthiest and most fun way. There are many hire shops with a great choice of bikes and all sorts of carriages for children dogs shopping etc.
There are more than 60 miles of cycle paths which link all the main villages and beaches. In addition, the island is exceptionally flat so hard work is kept to a minimum and in between the more rugged parts there is always a well earned coffee or ice cream stop not too far away.
Ile de Re
Ile de ré offers an idealized version of French life. Cars are few, most people use the cycle paths that criss-cross the island's vineyards, pine forests and salt flats. Ile de ré salt is very fashionable in gastro circles. The unspoilt glorious sandy beaches are open to all.
The cottage is located in La Noue on the outskirts of St Marie de Ré. It is a quiet, tranquil setting. La Noue village square has its own produce market, offering high quality fresh fish and locally farmed oysters, cheese and patisserie. Everything is within walking distance including three restaurants, bakery, bike hire, small morning market and newsagent. There is a Supermarket in Saint Marie.
Just 15km long and a mere 100 metres at its narrowest point, the island of Ré is home to 16 000 people.
On Ré's southern side you will find many expansive beaches and on its northern side many yachting harbours. Ré has much to offer throughout the year - it's close proximity to mainland cities make it an ideal place as a base camp to explore other cities (Bordeaux and Nantes are just two hours away; La Rochelle approx 20 minutes, but once on the Island you won't want to leave.
The Saint Marie/La Noue area is suited to those who enjoy walks through the vineyards and village life rather than those who prefer the more urban/commercial attractions of La Flotte or Saint-Martin. Sainte Marie has been awarded Staion Verte a national label awarded to French nature and green tourism.

"Very charming cottage, the perfect place to stay on the island"
We have been spending our holidays on Ile de Re for four years now, cause the island is such a magical place to us and we already stayed in this charming cottage last year. Last summer we had such a wonderful stay here, that we decided to return again this year.
The cottage is tastefully decorated capturing the essence of the island and it has all the amenities you need (Wifi, a fully equipped kitchen, a dishwasher, a washing machine, a television with a good selection of DVDs and an ipod speaker dock) and has a charming secret back courtyard where we loved to have dinner and relax.
The house is very well located in the peaceful village of La Noue (where you can find a lovely daily market, some shops and restaurants) and close to the beaches (we especially like La Plage des Grenettes, that you can reach by bike in ten minutes).
Glenda, the owner, is really helpful and provide all the information you need to live in the house and to discover the village around. We will definetely want to come back here again next year!

"Charming Indeed! A wonderful comfortable home to relax and enjoy the french lifestyle and beauty of Ile de Re."
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the cottage! After visiting busy London and Paris we were really excited to go to Ile de Re to relax. I had high expectations of the cottage from the photos and reviews and was not disappointed. From the moment we walked in the property we felt like we were home! The owners have thought of everything. The cottage is very tastefully decorated and has all the amenities you need. We loved the front and back garden areas. Perfect for a glass or two of wine and meals. Excellent location, close to the market, restaurants and the beach. We visited the bakery and market each morning to get fresh food for the day, they are just a few minutes away from the cottage and offer delicious selections. We rented bikes for the week and explored the island visiting different beaches and markets. Glenda, the owner, is a pleasure to deal with. She is very helpful provides all the information you need. Thank you Glenda, everything was perfect, we will definitely return!

"A real gem in a film set perfect location"
We had high hopes for the cottage from the pictures and previous reviews and it certainly did not disappoint. The cottage was just perfect for our stay with one year old twins and our dog. It is decorated beautifully and kitted out with everything that you need - and the location is just perfect. We loved having the daily market literally just a few minutes walk away. The days started perfectly with coffee at the cafe with a take out croissant from the bakery - quick stroll around the market to get fresh food for the day - and then a leisurely walk to the beach. The whole set up ensured we had a wonderful relaxing holiday - perfect!

"A comfortable and relaxing retreat"
We both enjoyed our stay in La Noue. It is situated in a quiet and peaceful location but within easy walking distance of the market, bakery, deli and creperie/pizzeria. Oh and close to a bike hire shop. The cottage was very comfortable for the 2 of us; the kitchen was well equipped and the courtyard was lovely, just perfect for sipping a glass of chilled wine on a hot day. The facilties were good and we particularly welcomed the videos and the Wifi.

"A home away from home"
This place is just wonderfoul. Here you can enjoy the real spirit of the island, spending your time in the peaceful courtyard, going to the beach by bicycle in just five minutes and shopping in the centre of the village that you can easily reach by foot. The cottage has everything you need: the kitchen is fully equipped, there's a comfortable salon with tv and dvds (great movies!) and in the courtyard you can find a large table where you can have your meals in sunny days. The owner is so helpful, you'll receive all the information you need in the right time and there's also a local contact who is really a nice person and who can help you with your needs. Everything is just perfect, it feels like you're at home with all the upgrades of holidays!
