About this location
The Herceg-Novi Municipality region
Herceg Novi is a charming touristic place, more than 600 yrs old town, on the very entrance to Boka Kotorska Bay.
Town is located between other two world famous old cities, Kotor which is under UNESCO protection, and Dubrovnik in Croatia.
Several old towers, old city with the clock, plenty of greenery and flowers make this town very enjoyable as a touristic destination
Along the coast, there is a 5 km long seafront promenade, with cafes, restaurants and shops along. There are over 70 registered, well equipped beaches in the local area
People are very approachable and friendly. Almost everyone from the younger population communicates well in english, italian and french so you will hardly ever get lost.
Town itself has a long tradition in tourism. The most famous festival is Mimosa fesival taking place in January and February, dedicated to the beautiful mimosa flower, which covers hills in Kumbor and Djenovici (smaller places in Herceg Novi)
It is also very well known abroad because of Igalo Institute, which operates more than 50 yrs, offering medical treatments to domestic as well as foreign patients. Especially successful in treating rheumatism, cardiology and physical problems.
There are many historical sights and world class tourist attractions easily reached on a day trip. These include the world heritage sites of Dubrovnik and Kotor, Ostrog Monastery just to name a few.
Herceg Novi has plenty of great restaurants, bars, night clubs, shops and open markets making it exceptionally attractive holiday destination.
There are plenty of things to do in and around Herceg Novi. In winter, you can enjoy the excellent skiing facilities on nearby Mount Orjen
In the summer, you can go hiking, biking, sailing and, if you are feeling daring, paragliding and of course, sun bathing all day long.
Sports enthusiasts can also go on one of the daily excursions offered by scuba diving clubs in the area. If you want to spend a few hours away from your holiday accommodation but don't want to leave the town, you can explore the old town of Herceg Novi which is only 2 mins walk away from the Bijela Kuca apartment.
The charming town is located on a steep hill with flights of stairs leading down to the promenade and pebble beaches. It is full of beautiful, historic buildings including the Forte Mare castle, St. Michael Archangel church in Belavista Square, the clock tower and the Kanli tower. Your Herceg Novi holiday would not be complete without a visit to the health spa where you can get pampered with an Igalo mud facial. The healing properties of Igalo mud will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
One of the top tourist attractions people visit while they're renting holiday accommodation in Herceg Novi is Plava Spilja, otherwise known as Blue Grotto. Situated on the Lustica peninsula, the cave is accessible by tourist taxi boat. Mini boats also offer excursions to attractive caves and beaches including Mamula Island, Zanjice and Miriste Cove. The marina and promenade are a pleasure for a stroll and a coffee, but if you feel more energetic why not enjoy the famed sunny days of the region by climbing the numerous flights of stairs overhung with flowers and greenery to explore the churches, designer shops and many and varied restaurants of the ancient town? It takes less than an hour to drive to the UNESCO protected medieval town of Kotor with its many restaurants, cobbled streets and impressive walls. The long and winding coastline, Skadar Lake, the canyons or the mountains are all within easy reach.
In one day, it is possible to have a coffee on one of the numerous beaches, eat lunch with the song of the birds on Skadar Lake and dine next to a fireplace on the slopes of the Durmitor Mountain or walk the National Park.If you want to venture a little further out can also take day trips to city of Dubrovnik in Croatia, which is only 30km away. There are regular buses that travel between Herceg Novi and Dubrovnik.
Herceg Novi has a mild Mediterranean climate; the summers are warm and dry and the winters mild making it very attractive holiday destination
