Home description

The Boathouse was originally built for boat/yacht storage hence the high terracotta roof and ceilings, situated on a working/commercial boatyard complex adjoining a river estuary with the beach and seaside village just minutes away, it's like an apartment on two floors, individual,'quirky' and not another tourist in sight! - You may feel at first as though you are entering a working boat yard but this soon passes when the electric shutter of the Boathouse is raised to reveal the accommodation of approx. 64sq. metres (8m x 4m approx.) smartly decorated in typical provencal colours of yellow walls with blue stained woodwork complimented with terracotta flooring and natural seagrass matting upstairs. Easy secure parking directly outside - See my website below for better photos & more comprehensive information.

OK for older children!!

From the first floor there are views eastwards towards the hills and mountains of the Maures forest with no other properties facing you. Sixty metres away there is a slipway to the river Gapeau, from here you can launch the kayak, fish or walk/cycle.

Les Salins is close by and is a quiet resort with restaurants and an 8 to 8 shop for most provisions. Hyeres historical town centre and Hyeres Port - renowned for it's sailing competitions are within easy reach distances of a few kilometres. The main road to St Tropez area & Hyeres town centre is a few minutes away as is the coastal road to Hyeres Port, Hyeres is probably one of the 'very French' towns/resorts that's as yet unspoilt along this popular coastline.

Near to the Boathouse is a purpose made cycle path which runs from Toulon to St Tropez this is useful to use for cycling or rollerblading to visit the neighbouring resorts of L'Ayguade or Hyeres Port.

The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Var region

Les Salins is a small quiet village where the coast road ends and turns inland, it's generally quiet and surrounded by a nature reserve. There is a sandy beach with facilities depending on season and also a small harbour. You can walk or cycle to beach or plenty of free car parking available. A few small shops and restaurants are very close.

For nightlife then the nearby Hyeres Port is busier than Hyeres Centre which is very old and historical with interesting architecture through the ages, markets and free gardens, traditional shops - always worth visiting during the day. Generally the weather is always good as the mountains offer a lot of protection.

The Var hinterland has something for all nature lovers, mountains, caves, lakes, waterfalls, rivers, spectacular views, forest, the smell of pine & herbs as you walk, lavender fields in season, historic buildings, outdoor activity centres, festivals

Hyeres / Les Salins area

By visiting the Hyeres tourist office or their website you can find all markets, festivals and local activities on a monthly basis, generally there is always something happening to suit most tastes and ages. Hyeres commune contains an estimated 7,000 palm trees. Here you have the sea, beaches, forest, rivers, mountains.

You are in a good position for touring west towards Marseille, east towards St Tropez or north to the Grand Canyon du Verdon. I have had another property in the area for 18 years and can give most information on the area and travelling, just ask Martin - no obligation!
