Home description

Hyannisport Hideaway is aptly named – there’s a large front and back yard and both are very secluded. Due to its location on a cul-de-sac and the fact that there is almost no traffic in the area, the location is very peaceful and serene. The living room opens up directly onto the porch, bring the outdoors within.

Situated just under a mile from the famous Craigville Beach, your stay at Hyannisport Hideaway will be enhanced by its proximity to this wonderful warm Nantucket Sound beach with 5 miles of sand. It is one of the largest and most popular on Cape Cod. The water is a very pleasant temperature until early September, and the gentle swells are refreshing compared to more placid Cape waters. It is generally free of seaweed and rocks, as well. There are lifeguards and bathhouses in season, and you can always catch a game of volleyball. The long beach and foamy surf make for beautiful walks in quieter seasons.

We will provide you with a free beach-parking pass that will allow you to park your car at all of the Town of Barnstable beaches. That includes amazing Sandy Neck beach with a lighthouse, 9,000-acre preserve with dunes, bird life, marshes, and shellfish (but a bit of a drive at 10 miles). Covell Beach, Keys Beach, Veterans Beach, Kalmus Beach (great for wind surfing) are all less than 2 miles from our home. After spending the day enjoying your seaside adventures, you will return to a tranquil home that will welcome you with its quiet pleasures. Experience the delight of la dolce vita in this well-appointed home and grounds! Have your morning coffee on the sun-drenched porch, rest in the shady front yard, cook up your fresh catch on the grill, relax with a book or play a game with your family! For those who need to keep in touch with the office or surf the web during downtime, high speed wireless access is available free of charge.

The New England / Massachusetts region

Cape Cod is an arm-shaped peninsula forming the easternmost portion of the state of Massachusetts. Although Cape Cod was originally connected to the mainland, the first Cape Cod Canal, completed in 1914, effectively transformed Cape Cod into a large island.

The Pilgrims were the first “tourists” to visit Cape Cod, landing in Provincetown and later coming ashore at Eastham’s First Encounter Beach, named for their first encounter with the Nauset Indians. Today’s Cape Cod lures holiday makers seeking the finest in sandy beaches, quaint villages, great shopping, the freshest of seafood, and plenty of activities to round out your vacation.

If the beach is “your thing,” Cape Cod is the place for you. This 65-mile long peninsula borders the Atlantic Ocean, Nantucket Sound and Cape Cod Bay, and also offers many salt water bays and freshwater ponds and lakes, providing a variety of waters for your enjoyment.

If your group includes teens or sports enthusiasts, you may want to hit the beaches of the Cape Cod National Seashore. It’s located along the Cape’s Atlantic coast and is where you’ll find the “surf’s up.” Try surf boarding or boogie boarding – or just relax and watch the tide roll in!

The shore along Cape Cod Bay is for the little ones and those who enjoy a nice stroll to look for shells or sea creatures. While there is little in the way of surf, the waters are pleasantly warm, and low tide makes for good opportunities to explore the bottom of the bay. Nantucket Sound borders the southern shore of Cape Cod and also surrounds the island of Martha’s Vineyard and part of Nantucket island. You’ll find the Sound’s waters warmer than the Atlantic’s and the Bay’s, with a little more surf than the Bay.

The Cape and Islands also offer abundant fishing and shellfishing, and wooded areas in which to observe and enjoy nature. Boating is a popular activity, whether you prefer power or sail. The Cape Cod Rail Trail is enjoyed by bikers and walkers alike. You’ll find that the main streets of the towns on the Cape and Islands are lined with quaint shops and waterfront restaurants along with a wonderful representation of the arts, from paintings by renowned artists to performing arts featuring some of entertainment’s biggest names. No wonder Cape Cod is such a popular vacation destination!

Although, as in the days of the earliest settlers, Cape Cod can still be reached by boat (from Boston or Plymouth), by far the most popular mode of transportation to Cape Cod is the car. Traffic onto the Cape crosses over the Cape Cod Canal by either the Bourne Bridge or the Sagamore Bridge.

Hyannis Port area

Hyannis is considered the "hub" of the Cape, with nearly 70% of the population in this area and is also home to the majority of Cape Cod’s industry, including Colonial Candle and Cape Cod Potato Chips. The downtown area of Hyannis is busy most of the year with many shops, restaurants and attractions such as the Melody Tent and the Cape Cod Railroad. The John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum is a multimedia exhibit designed to open a window on the days JFK spent on Cape Cod at the family compound in Hyannisport. From the Ocean Street Docks, ferries and tour boats depart to the islands of Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. Cape Cod’s daily newspaper, The Cape Cod Times, is published in Hyannis.

Guestbook for Hyannisport Hideaway

''Your home is as welcoming and beautiful and it appeared on the website. We were so comfortable there and had such nice long chats in the inviting kitchen. We entertained newly found family and it was the perfect spot for it. We were all so at ease in our surroundings. Early morning bike rides and sunset strolls along Crai...gville Beach - not to mention the central location on the Cape were all added bonuses. The entire transaction was efficient and professional and we hope to come back next year. Thank you for sharing with us.'' - said the guests from San Diego, California.

''We had a great time. The house is wonderful. You have done a terrific job of stocking everything one can possibly need. It was so nice having a few staples to use... I just can't say how thankful we are to have been able to stay in such a nice, clean place. It made all the difference in our vacation. We enjoyed having the bikes, AC, the W/D...just everything.

I know it is very difficult to rent sight unseen from a stranger. I was a bit worried, but I pretty much said whatever happens, happens! What a relief it was though to arrive and see how clean and well kept your home was. It definitely surpassed our expectations. You have been so professional, and have provided such excellent service. My husband and I were amazed! You have thought of everything, down to the tool to adjust the bike seats! I told all my friends on the Cape. They were amazed too. Most rentals don't provide all those details. Biking to Hyannisport, early in the morning, and grabbing a cup of coffee at the country store was great fun...beautiful views! You made that possible!''
