House Mediterranea has got the most unique location; it is situated in the hearth of the Croatian oldest town on the Croatian sunniest island of Hvar. The Old Town stands out as one of the best examples of pristine original architecture in the Mediterranean (UNESCO World Heritage).

Define word "cozy" :-) Anywhere you go, you will be surrounded by the old, 100% authentic houses, streets, and squares entirely made of stone. The Old Town is a magical labyrinth of ancient stone and serene silence. It has fantastic restaurants, great things to see, and plenty of things to do. The cultural heritage is phenomenal! Open air theaters, classical music in medieval churches, superb restaurants, and most incredible scenery and flavors that you can imagine!

The house is situated in the very centre of the town, in a calm and quite pedestrian zone, a few walking minutes from the town bay and the harbor. One can easily reach all shops, a local fruit market, a bar, a restaurants, a 4th century church (the oldest preserved church in Croatia), or an open air cinema. A life in Casa Mediterranea is neat and cozy :), and to find such an old and well preserved house on this location with a garden and natural shade is almost impossible.

450 years old stone house with some elements originating from Roman time. This old stone house tells stories of many generations, who have lived there, loved each other, raised children and laughed together. Our small family of artists has spent the last few years renovating the house to give back the olden and authentic charm. In order to minimize any intervention or change, only the indigenous materials were used, such as stone and wood, and the entire decor has been handpicked at the antiques shops. The house has 90m2 of housing space and 200m2 of private garden.

The private garden is quite specious (approx. 200m2) and has an open view to the local hills. One part of the garden has got a natural shade made of the wine grapes that protect you from sun and where one can spend hours reading books and enjoying life :)

The island of Hvar is the sunniest island on the Adriatic, and is considered to be one of the most beautiful islands of the Mediterranean. Throughout the centuries the island has been an oasis for rich merchants, diplomats, philosophers, and well known poets. When one thinks of Hvar, he thinks of the rich culture heritage, beautiful architecture and a charming mixture of the old spiritual place and the elite, fashionable nightlife.

This green island also stands out for the natural beauties, especially for crystal blue sea and for the scents of lavender and rosemary. This is the effect of the pleasant Mediterranean climate, characterized by gentle winters, warm summers and unbelievable number of hours of sunshine (2,718 hours a year). The island of Hvar is also one of the Mediterranean symbols for gourmet food and wine.

Getting to the island of Hvar should be easy; especially during summer, when most of the major European airports have a direct flight to Split. A regular ferry line from Split will take you directly to the Old Town (Stari Grad). House Mediterranea is in the center of the Old Town.

Split is the major tourist airport destination in this part of Europe. Among others, many low-budget and charter companies have connections to Split Airport, which enables a good and a fairly inexpensive connection.
