About the home

The house is at the end of a secluded lane with great views across the dried up Almanzora River to the distant mountains. The huge pool has an island with a Yucca in the centre and is surrounded by a large terrace with sunbeds and umbrellas. At the side of the house a lawn with authentic looking ( and feeling ) artificial grass has been laid for sunbathing

A covered patio stretches the full width of the front of the house with a top class barbecue at one end

You enter the house into a large hallway with bedrooms off either side, one of which has a large, modern en-suite bathroom with separate shower cubicle and a dressing room. The hallway leads into a large dining room with seating for 8. The kitchen is finished with travertine marble work tops and comes equipped with a large Whirlpool fridge/freezer, a double oven with four gas rings, griddle and warming plate plus every implement required for gourmet cooking. A second bathroom is off the kitchen and a back door provides access to the rear courtyard with overhanging grape vines and the utility room. There is also a small bedroom with bunk beds on the ground floor

On the first floor there are two linked rooms with separate lounge areas. One has a TV with satellite system and the other can be used as a quieter chill out area. In this room there is a spectacular floor to ceiling bookcase with hundreds of books available for your enjoyment. A custom made ladder is provided for access to the uppermost shelves

The two lounge areas are separated by a large fireplace which is open to both rooms. Off one of the lounges is the 'secret bedroom' which is accessed through a tiny doorway but opens up into a large fourth bedroom with en-suite shower room. The chill out lounge comes complete with a double sofa bed and a grand piano which can be played but the tuning could be a bit suspect!

A number of sunbeds are provided and two large thatched sunshades are on the pool terrace. Under the shaded front patio there are two tables large enough to seat around 12 persons

The stunning pool has a shallow end which is 1 metre deep, ideal for children, which drops off to a large 2 metre depth area - perfect for a proper swim or pool games

The Andalucia / Almeria Province region

Cortijo Carasoles is close to the market towns of Huercal Overa, Vera and Albox. The beach resort of Vera Playa is only a 25 minute drive and the popular resort of Mojacar a further 5 minutes away. Mojacar Pueblo a traditional whitewashed village nestles on the mountainside overlooking the beach. Mojacar is a busy holiday destination with many bars and restaurants available

The Costa de Almeria is quite hilly and is home to the only semi-desert environment in Europe. Within a half hour drive of the house you can find Mini Hollywood, a tourist attraction, built in the area that was used to film the spaghetti westerns made famous by Clint Eastwood

The area is also home to thousands of farms producing huge quantities of all kinds of fruit and vegetables

The Huercal-Overa / Zurgena area

For one whole week in June Mojacar hosts the Moors & Christians festival celebrating the victory over the Moorish occupiers. This is an amazing spectacular culminating in a parade from Mojacar Pueblo to Mojacar Playa by hundreds of local people in authentic period costumes with bands and horsemen

Every village in the area has it's own Fiesta and it is almost certain that a Fiesta will be happening somewhere close by every weekend during the summer

Most local towns also have their own weekly market at which souvenirs, clothing, leather goods and much more can be found at real bargain prices

Vera Playa boasts an excellent water park and lots of good restaurants

Golf fans at Cortijo Carasoles can enjoy a round at three top class local courses - Desert Springs, Vall Del Este and Cortijo Grande

Cortijo Carasoles is easily accessible by motorway almost to the doorstep from Alicante, Almeria and Murcia airports. Los Carasoles is only a three minute drive off the E15-A7 at the Albox turnoff which is between the Huercal Overa and Vera junctions

All the airports are serviced by EasyJet or Ryanair as well as a number of charter airlines

A hire car would be required to get you to the house from the airport and many good deals can be found online
