About this location
The Brittany region
Brittany is a land of discoveries and wonder and no region more so than Finistere. Finistère has such a rich cultural heritage that it is almost a vast open-air museum. From prehistoric standing stones to abbeys and chapels, châteaux and manors, history is woven into the landscape at every turn. Finistere is a region that has preserved its natural and authentic wonderland to enchant the visitor.
The people of west Brittany are known for using tradition as a great excuse for a good time - you'll find famous painters and writers here, lots of live music, folk festivals and many a Fest Noz, a loveable and lively village fête with sea shanties, barbecues and late-night dancing. One holiday in Brittany and especially Finistere will never be enough!
A small town with a beautiful church, a tabac and a patisserie for those important breakfast croissants.
A unique town high in the Parc d'Armorique, it's atmosphere is peaceful and its beautiful lake ever changing, but once the traveller descends into the Argent Valley they are surrounded by a mass of mossy boulders whose magical mystery has fired the Breton imagination for many years. Here lies the centre for Arthurian legend, visit le camp d'Arthus, la Grotte du Diable, la Roche Tremblante and the magnificent chaos of enormous rocks that follow the silver river from the lake to the abyss.
Huelgoat has a variety of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. Every Thursday the market comes to fill the town square, bringing a huge variety of local produce, vegetables, meat and cheeses.
A very interesting town situated between 3 hills and 3 river tributaries, it's half timbered houses and colourful alleyways add to the original atmosphere. Take in the alleyways and so onto the viaduct. With a wide variety of shops, cafes and restaurants Morlaix is not to be missed. For history lovers visit the Jacobins Museum. This is a town that does not disappoint.
Roscoff is a town with a rich architectural heritage well worth a visit just for the buildings. But go to Roscoff for that "day at the seaside" and delight in its magnificent beaches, revel in it's seafood restaurants, cafes and bars. For all visitors that enjoy water sports and walking, but do not miss the Exotic Garden or a boat ride to the ile de Batz. Any visitor to Roscoff the week after August 15th will be amazed and enthralled by the onion Festival. If you are in Brittany don't miss it.
How can you choose between a visit to the historic towns of Quimper, Concarneau, St Pol de Leon, Landerneau, Locronan, Rennes, Vannes or Lorient. Take your choice but be prepared to be amazed.
