The Central Thailand / Bangkok / Prachuab Khiri Khan region

Hua Hin and the neighbouring town of Cha-am are best described as small sleepy seaside resort towns. They are to Bangkok what Brighton is to London or the Hamptons are to New York. Initially for the rich and famous, the area flourished with the expansion of the railways giving access to the masses. Being only 2 to 3 hours drive down the Gulf of Thailand, the towns offer a close retreat of sharp contrast to the hustle of Thailand's capital and as such their personalities change as the hordes arrive at weekends with many hotels being full. Hua Hin has the added credibility of being the favoured resort of the Thai royal family; indeed the current king spends much of his time in residence there.
The Hua Hin area
Attractions
With over half a dozen courses dotted around the town, Hua Hin is a golfers' paradise and many just come to play day-in and day-out. All the courses are well maintained as one has come to expect in Thailand. The closest to the town is Royal Hua Hin Golf Course just behind the railway station in the town centre and was Thailand's first golf course. Others include the 27 hole Lakeview, which has its own hotel so addicts need not stray far, the Jack Nicklaus-designed Springfield Royal Country Club, Palm Hills, just 15 minutes from Hua Hin, Majestic Creek and Bangkok Milford. Green fees are a real bargain and the fairways are never busy although weekends are more crowded. Guests staying on the course usually enjoy significant discounts on playing fees.

The versatile layout of the property meant we could enjoy being together as a family, yet still enjoy our own space. The villa is situated on a secure estate for peace of mind, however it is situated a 5-10min trip to the main town/restaurants.We had a large car for the 4 weeks, which was great as it allowed us to see other towns and find new beaches. Have a go at driving in Thailand, its not as bad as you think.Tuk tuks/taxis to and from town were only about £3-4, you can get 6 in some, so its still very cheap to get around. We ate in a couple of times getting food from the foodstalls, less than £2 a head. Mostly we ate out, wine can be very expensive in some restaurants, check first if you enjoy a glass or two. Being on a private estate, it could get quite busy with pool men/hedge and grass trimmers/gardeners coming and going to all the properties. The wi-fi signal was weak, so be aware if you are planning to spend a lot of time on line. Transfers for parts of our group to Bangkok all worked well. Martin and Lindsay were by coincidence in HuaHin while we were there, so it was nice to meet them and have a chat over a drink as you do. It it the Thai people however who make a trip to that part of the world so worthwhile, and we certainly hope to be travelling that way before too long and will try and book the villa again as a short stopover or another extended stay. |

Travelled alone - very safe area - as is the rest of Hua Hin. Villa had everything you could need. Pool was a must and used every day. Villa contacts in uk and Thailand were very helpful and any queries were answered very quickly. Would certainly recommend to any size of traveling group. |

'Overall we had a great holiday and the Villa was perfect for our needs. The location was perfect being close enough to town but not too close and also near to our family. Having the pool made a real difference and it got lots of use. The on site staff were helpful on the rare occasions we needed to contact them. The Villa was a much better alternative to far more expensive hotel accommodation and offered privacy and independence for our group'. Be assured if the subject comes up I will recommend the villa to any friends or colleagues thinking of going to Thailand.

to them. The villa is a lovely place to relax. Very spacious plenty of room to enjoy other peoples company but room to sit quietly to read and relax. The private pool and Jacuzzi was brilliant
