The Central Thailand/Bangkok region

Hua Hin is a famous beach resort town in the northern Malay Peninsula of Thailand. The town is 200 km south of the capital city Bangkok and lies on the western coast of the Gulf of Thailand.

Hua Hin is easily accessible from the capital city via the Hua Hin airport which presently caters to domestic flights. The train station is conveniently located in the centre of town.

Characterised by a hot and tropical climate, Hua Hin has the lowest rainfall in Thailand. The warm season is usually from November–April, with ocean breezes alleviating temperatures.

The population of Hua Hin is around 85,000. The King of Thailand has a summer palace in Hua Hin, which he uses regularly, and as a result, there is quite a lot of security in this region. It is also a good weekend getaway for locals and a lovely retirement option for foreigners.

Bangkok Province, Thailand • http://www.tourismthailand.org

Hua Hin, one of Thailand's premier beach resort towns on the Gulf of Thailand, is less than 200 km south of Bangkok, making it one of the most popular weekend getaway destination for city residents. A resort equally popular with young couples and families, tourists and Thais, Hua Hin is also the location of the King of Thailand's summer palace, Klai Kang Won, “Far from Worries.”

Hua Hin features a beautiful, powdery sand beach, numerous seaside seafood restaurants, a lively night market, numerous beach activities, and some great inland activities, not least of which is golfing at some of Thailand's most renowned courses. Hua Hin is also the site of Thailand's most popular music festival, the Hua Hin Jazz Festival. Just down the coast at Takiab Bay visitors can take seaside horseback rides and visit a hilltop Buddhist temple with a spectacular view.

Accommodation along the beach and on the streets leading away from the sea range from simple guesthouses to luxury resorts, and includes some of the finest spa-retreats in the World. Hua Hin is accessible via train, bus, or car and the seaside community of 60,000 residents epitomizes warm and welcoming Thai hospitality.

The seaside town of Hua Hin, meaning “Stone Head”, was named after the rocks at the north end of the powdery sand beach. Hua Hin became Thailand's first beach resort after a train line was laid in the 1920 to provide access from Bangkok and King Rama VII established his summer retreat in the area. With a 5 kilometer-long beach that features numerous activities and hosts an annual jazz festival, the laid back and hospitable town of Hua Hin continues to draw both tourists and Thais.

In Hua Hin you can find everything that you can expect from a vacation and even more. Hua Hin is located 200 kilometres south of Bangkok, in the province of Prachuabkirikhan, on the west side of Siam bay.

The city is characterized strongly by it's royal relations. Already 1920 King Rama VII built his summer resort Klai Kangwon Palace (“far away from worries”). The name does well agree with the city pulse of today, who has continued it's development as a seaside resort for the Thai upper class. Here you can relax on shallow white beaches, enjoy the food on a local Thai restaurant or play golf on one of many beautiful golf courses nearby.

The harbour is the heart of the city. Here you can find a long row of fish restaurants and here, as well as in all Thailand, you can eat both very tasty and cheap. After a tasty dinner many people visit the “Night market” – the best place to shop T-shirts, “pirate copies”, souvenirs, electronics and much more.

If you want to make an outing there are much to see and do in the surroundings. Fore example: two of Thailand's biggest Nationals parks; the river Kwai with it's famous iron bridge (built by Japanese prisoners during world war two); the old town Petchaburi with beautiful temples, wood made houses and buildings are not to forget.

If you wish to try the original Thai kitchen – why not try a Thai tavern right on the street!

In Hua Hin you can also find entertainment with pubs, discos, Thai boxing, traditional Thai dance and much more.

Shopping

There are a lot of shopping in Hua Hin. You can find shopping centres as well as the daily “Night market” located in the middle of Hua Hin city. It is very cheap to buy clothes and there are many tailors with high quality.

Play golf

Hua Hin has seven golf courses nearby. Each one with it's own character and charm in various difficulties – from easy park courses to demanding championship courses. Our own favourite, Springfield, is designed by Jack Nicklaus.

The closest one is Hua Hin Royal Golf Course who is located near the railway station in the middle of the city. The other five courses are located no longer than 20 minutes from the area. You can also find several more courses within decent distance.
