Maison Bancets is a luxurious renovated farmhouse with a pool. It is a short drive to Europe's best surf beach, top European golf course and the beautiful Pyrenees Mountains.

It's setting is incredibly romantic. It offers everything you could want on a relaxing stay in France, away from it all. This 4 double bedroom all en suite farmhouse sleeps up to 8 and is perfect for two families or one large family. Outside there is a huge courtyard, romantic outside dining and BBQ area, games room and swimming pool set in over an acre of beautiful grounds.

It is situated a mile outside of the beautiful village of St Martin De Hinx with its beautiful cafes and local artisans. This traditional building has all the charm of a French farmhouse yet with a distinctly modern flavour!

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Landes region

The region is rich with long sandy surf beaches, world class golf courses, pine forests and pretty towns and villages. There are some beautiful historic place to visit such as St Jean de Luz. The Pyrenees can be seen in the distance and they are only a 30 minute drive away.

The weather is beautiful, with mainly clear sunny blue days. The proximity of the sea ensures there is always somewhere to go to cool down. The very warm weather runs from May - September but can be glorious in April and October too. In the winter, it is cold and frosty often and the ski areas are about 1 1/2 hours drive away.

Hossegor / St Martin De Hinx area

Restaurants and Bars: All culinary tastes can be catered for in the local area. There are plenty of local restaurants, bars and cafes for you to sample. There are several cafes in St Martin de Hinx and a wide selection of restaurants in Hossegor. There is a very good, traditional restaurant, Auberge D'Ugne, in a neighbouring village and there is a wonderful pizzeria in Saubrigues (5km away).

Surfing: Hossegor and the local area of Aquitaine is the surfing capital of Europe and regular Word-Pro events are held along the coast. Surf hire and tuition is available in nearby Hossegor and Seignosse.

Beaches: The Atlantic coast of South West France, stretching from the Spanish border right up to Bordeaux, is really just one long sandy beach so you can easily find a spot away from it all. The nearest beaches are a 15 minute drive away in Capbreton and Hossegor.

Golf: There are two 18 hole golf courses nearby of world class standard both open to non members. Golf Hotel De Seignosse www.golfseignosse.com and Golf Club d'Hossegor.

Spas: For ultimate relaxation and luxury, visit the spa in Biarritz, The Institut Thalassotherapie in the Sofitel Thalassa Miramar Hotel. Treatments include seaweed wraps, seawater jet therapy and hydro-massage.

Mountains: The Pyrenees are just a 45 minute drive away. In the winter you can go snowboarding or ski-ing. It is 2 hours drive to the small resorts of Cauteret and La Mongie. In the Summer, there are beautiful villages to visit such as Espelette, famed for its chilli chocolate factory and Saint Jean Pied-De-Port with its magnificent castle.

Spain: It is just a 30 minutes drive to the Spanish border. San Sebastian is worth a visit, located just across the Spanish border on the coast (45min drive). The capital of Pays De Basque, San Sebastian is famed for its gastronomic delights. It has a beautiful, traditional town centre and the peninsula and fort between the two main beaches has great views and walking paths.

Other activities available in the nearby area: Karting and Quad Biking, Paintballing, Adventure Trails, Horseriding, Fishing, Boat Hire and Jet Ski-ing, Kayaking, Walking and Cycling.

How to get there

Maison Bancets is situated near the village of St Martin De Hinx, South-West France in the region of Landes, Aquitaine. It is just 40 minutes from Spain (the Pyrenees), 30 minutes north of Biarritz, 20 minutes from Hossegor.

The nearest airport is Biarritz (20 min) which has daily flights from Stanstead with Ryanair but regular flights are also available to Pau (1 hr), Bilbao and Bordeaux (1.5 hr). Good value car hire is available from all the airports.

Maison Bancets has been beautifully renovated inside. It's chic interior is modern and luxurious. It's pure unfussiness and attention to comfort ensures a relaxing and calming atmosphere throughout. There are many traditional features throughout, such as the incredible exposed beams. This is a beautiful example of modern French interior design. Maison Bancets sleeps 8/9 guests and the accommodation comprises:

Ground Floor

Walk in through double height oval barn doors into a spacious living room with a grand staircase leading up to the bedrooms. The living room has a Satellite TV with DVD and a place to simply relax on sofas over a bottle of wine and your favourite CDs. A large sky lit dining room seating up to 12 people, adjoins the living room and kitchen. There is also a spacious laundry room for drying wetsuits etc!

A large modern kitchen, equipped with all the necessary appliances including a large fridge and freezer, hob, electic fan oven, microwave, blender, dishwasher and washing machine.

Two large double bedrooms can be either double or twin (both en suite), one with patio doors leading out into the garden.

First Floor

Two large double bedrooms both en suite. Again can be double or twin*.

*Cots and high chairs are available on request. A spare bed is also available to make a triple room to sleep 9.

Maison Bancets is set in just over an acre of beautiful grounds. It is private and peaceful and you'll find yourself totally relaxing in the heart of the French countryside.

Outside:

There is a large courtyard terrace ideal for BBQ's (supplied) and al fresco eating. Patio chairs and table seat 10 under an old traditional no sided barn. The large courtyard leads onto a decked sunbathing area and pool (fence protected) which captures the sun all day.

A covered games room houses a full equipped table tennis table and five new mountain bikes (4 adult 1 child). Set in an acre of lawns there is plenty of room for badminton and lawn bowls (all provided). Across the lane, the property also boasts a small woodland area.

Conditions

TERMS: Rates are per week and based on 9 people staying. Bookings are from Saturday 4pm to Saturday 10am. During peak season, guests staying only one week will be asked to pay a surcharge of £100. A deposit of 25% is payable within 3 days of booking to confirm and the balance six weeks before arrival. Refundable breakages deposit of £300 is required, to be refunded within two weeks of your departure (subject to satisfactory property inspection).
CANCELLATION: In the event of a cancellation, every effort will be made to re-let, but if this is not possible the management reserves the right to retain the deposit and to recover the balance due. Insurance cover can be obtained for any loss of this sort. If the accommodation reserved is suddenly not available due to storm, fire or other unforeseen circumstances, the owner cannot accept liability or responsibility but the deposit and any other rental money already paid will be refunded.
LONG WEEKENDS AND MID-WEEK BREAKS: These can be arranged out of season. Please contact us for more details.
CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR: Maison Bancets is a wonderful place to spend the holiday season. Length of stay, arrival and departure can be flexible. Please contact us for more details.

CLEANING: Guests are responsible for keeping and leaving the property in a clean and tidy condition. It is expected the house is left as good as found. An exit clean can be arranged at an additional charge of £100. For guests staying more than one week, a mid stay laundry change is also possible at an additional charge of £60. Please inform us upon booking.
