About the home
The apartment has been furnished using timber hand milled by the owners. This includes tables, benches, shelves and wall hangings to give a natural rustic feel. The design is tasteful yet simple.
Time off in Hossegor combines all the usual sun and sand associated with a beach holiday with the culture and charm of French living.
Choose to have quiet secluded walks on beaches away from the hustle and bustle or indulge in eating, drinking and partying French style.
The apartment can sleep a maximum of 4 people. There is a large double bed in the corner of the lounge area. This features a large pull out bed underneath. Also in an alcove are 2 bunk beds. The top bunk is narrower than the bottom bunk.
Built into a shelf unit is a projector system that allows DVDs to be played on a large 8' by 4' projector screen. There is a large collection of 70 DVDs but for guests bringing young children it is advised to bring their favourite films.

A cot and highchair is not standard issue in the apartment but please ask in advance and we can provide one for you.

Recently we have completed decking the outside patio area with deodor cedar planks. The patio area is surrounded by a hedge which gives privacy from the adjacent walkway.
There are also two solid oak benches with low coffee table on which to relax after a hard day of doing nothing! One of the best things about the apartment is the location - so close to the beach and also for those that enjoy running/biking you can walk out straight onto the boulevard next to the river (which leads to the lake).
Hossegor is one of the most cycle friendly places you can stay.
The apartment is situated far enough away from the more boisterous pubs and nightclubs that you won't hear them but close enough for a 5 minute walk home should you wish to stay out later!
Further details
There is no set car parking place but a large car park near the apartment means you will always find a place for your car. However it is a short 2 minute walk from this car park to the apartment. The area around the residences is given over pedestrians only.
Conditions
Smokers are welcome to stay but must smoke strickly on the decking area i.e. no smoking inside apartment. All cigarette ends must be extinguished in water and disposed of properly i.e. not thrown in hedge!
Last year there was a play area for children as well as large open air swimming pools set up on the beach just in front of the apartment block.
Work has now been completed on a walkway that extends from the small lighthouse at the end of the harbour wall all the way along the top of the beach.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Landes region
Aquitaine is one of the prettiest regions of France. Situated in the south west corner of the country, it boasts beautiful countryside and villages that have scarcely been touched by tourism.
The medieval castles dotted around the area are some of the best preserved in France.
The region's major cities include cosmopolitan Bordeaux and stylish Biarritz, with smaller towns offering markets full of wonderful local produce.
For the more active the coast offers plenty of opportunity for surfing and swimming and the Pyrenees are a wonderful location for walks in summer and skiing in winter
The Hossegor area
Hossegor (pronounced "oz-gor") is in the Sud Landes area of south west France, not far from Biarritz. The area is dominated by its landscape of ocean, lakes and pine forests, creating one big outdoor playground!
The apartment is in the Les Terrasses de l'Océan - a collection of mostly holiday apartments situated at the Plage Notre Dames, the southern-most stretch of beach at Hossegor. The marina entrance here separates Hossegor from neighbouring Capbreton.
Technically, the address is actually Capbreton, yet the location is on the Hossegor side of the marina. It's just a minute's walk to reach the sand, less than 5 minutes to the bars, cafes and nightlife at Place du Landais (Plage Centrale) and 10 minutes walk to the heart of Hossegor (lagoon and town centre shops).
There are also restaurants in the Notre Dames area only 50m away from the apartment! We can heartily recommend cafe sud.
Hossegor is located right by the Atlantic ocean with the stunning beaches offering prime surfing opportunities attracting everyone from world class surfers (the Quicksilver and Rip Curl events are held here) to beginners who can learn on the safe beaches of Capbreton. Hossegor and Seignosse golf clubs are also nearby.
There are regular markets in both Capbreton and Hossegor offering everything from fresh local produce, crafts and clothes to carpets and art work. The Fete De Bayonne is a must see event in August! Le Petit train at La Rhune gives fantastic views across the Bay of Biscay. St Jean De Luz is a short trip along the coast and offers a beautiful bay, port and shopping.
Spain is approx. 40 minute drive with San Sebastian offering the delights of the old fishing port and tapas bars galore!

Really enjoyed our stay in this apartment, ideal location, practically on the beach! Was great having all of the facilities...home from home. 5 min walk to go over to Cap Breton on little boat, loads of restaurants within the vicinity. We had a great time. Only down side was finding the apartment very hot during the night and as on ground floor was aware of security risks. We were blessed with the weather and really relaxed!! |

We booked this apartment through the site Alternative Aquitaine as we liked the look of it from the pictures provided and it appeared near to attractions we were interested in. The apartment itself was clean, modern, with a lovely little BBQ area. All amenities needed were available and it was nice that thought had been given to providing entertainment in the evening - we surprised ourselves by making full use of the projector and films available (n.b good idea to bring that DVD you've never got round to watching at home!). Finding the location was quite easy, but not the actual apartment itself, however we were met by a lovely English lady who manages the apartment for the couple who own it and once we'd managed to find each other, it was exceptional easy. There is a beach immediately on the doorstep, but the other ones are only a short car ride away. The only negative thing I would say is that although it can sleep up to four, it probably isn't really big enough for more than two (depending on how well you all get on!). I would stay here again though as it was comfortable and suited our particular needs superbly. |
