About the home

A self catering cottage decorated to a high modern standard. Lovely bright cosy living room with comfy suite, TV, DVD player, iPod Dock, games, books DVDs. The kitchen is very well equipped for a small cottage. Horning is probably the prettiest village on the Norfolk Broads with good selection of pubs, shops, and restaurants. Hire a boat and explore the rivers and broads, watch the wildlife go by. There are nature reserves, stately homes, theme parks, zoos, and the lovely beaches on the North Norfolk coast to visit also. Just a mile from Horning is the fabulous woodland adventure park, Bewilderwood, the kids will love it.

The East Anglia / Norfolk region

Horning is situated on the River Bure in the heart of the Norfolk Broads about 10 miles from Norwich and 1.5 miles from Wroxham, the home of the famous "Roys of Wroxham" ,the "largest village store in the world". Horning is a family friendly village which provides good local amenities including 3 riverside pubs (all serving food), restaurants, Chinese takeaway, fish & chip shop, tea room, deli, butcher, newsagent/grocery store, post office & hair & beauty salon. Just half a mile away there is a small leisure centre the "Helska" with heated swimming pool, spa, sauna & gym. Fine sandy beaches are a 20 minute drive away, a bit further afield some of the beaches in North Norfolk are among the most beautiful in the country.

The Horning area

Day boats can be hired locally for days or the week. Belwilderwood - The Tree House Adventure Park is just up the road. Wroxham Barns craft centre makes for a lovely day out with it's craft shops, children's fun fair and junior farm where all the family can feed and interact with the animals and it's only 3 miles away. The Bure valley Railway leaves from Wroxham, an old Great Eastern line it links Wroxham to the ancient market town of Alysham, great fun for all the family.
There is an excellent 18 hole golf course 6 miles away.
There are several stately homes in the area to visit such as Sandringham House, Her Majesty The Queen's Norfolk residence, Holkham and Blickling Hall and many National Trust properties. The fine city of Norwich is close by with its wonderful shopping mall under the 900 year old Castle, new Chapelfield Mall and the beautiful Cathedral containing many architectural features. Only 13 miles away by car, 15 minutes by train from Wroxham, Norwich has quaint cobbled streets and alleyways, museums and a busy, colourful outdoor market selling a variety of goods including fantastic local produce.

“Cute and cozy for Christmas” We had an amazing Christmas in this cozy cottage! Snuggled by the authentic style wood burner, watching tv and dvds. The local pubs are great, and all in within walking distance. A cute, cozy home from home
