The Heart of England / Peak District / Lincolnshire region
The Wolds is an area of outstanding natural beauty with rolling chalk hills in the centre of Lincolnshire stretching for 40 miles and rising to over 500 feet. It was the inspiration for Alfred Lord Tennyson who was born in the village of Somersby in a cottage Lincolnshire and studied at the grammer school in nearby Louth.
The Horncastle area
Lying at the south-west foot of the Wolds at the edge of the Fens, Horncastle is a bustling and attractive market town, renowned for its antique shops, with a fine heritage and unspoilt by modern developments. There are some notable historic buildings, including the 12th-century Church of St.Mary and it is a good base from which to explore the surrounding countryside.

My family and I stayed here for a week over the Christmas period. We had a very pleasant and friendly welcome from the owners. The cottages are well equipped, extremely clean and fresh, and the decor is outstounding.
Very peaceful and quiet surroundings - couldn't ask for more!
Will definitely be back!!

We had a great stay with Dan and Hiroko, after travelling over from Germany and needing somewhere to stay, with 3 dogs, while we went on our house hunt.
We booked for 3 weeks and then stayed for a further few days as we enjoyed it so much. The cottages are in a great rural location within Lincolnshire but 2 market towns are only a few minutes away by car.
We also visited the coast several times and other locations within the county, such as the Kinema in the Woods, at Woodhall Spa, a great experience for the first timer.
A really superb break in old England with great hosts.
It was great to arrive after such a long journey after travelling across Europe, to find Hiroko waiting for us, just like coming home.
A great break we would`nt hesitate to reccomend!
