Poachers Hideaway
About the home
Luxury self catering holiday cottage in the Lincolnshire Wolds.
With 170 acres of ancient woodland, wildflower pastures, natural hedgerows and water meadows, to explore, Poachers Hideaway is the perfect place to relax in 4 & 5 star holiday cottage accommodation. On-site we can offer fishing on our Coarse and Carp lakes open to residents only. We are also pleased to be able to offer accommodation grades at level 1 for Mobility under the National Accessibility Scheme.
There are miles of interconnecting routes that meander round the undulating hills and valleys of Flintwood Farm, but for those seeking to explore further, the Viking Way joins the farm and opens up many more beautiful areas of Lincolnshire. Others like to take in the many antique shops in Horncastle (the antiques capital of Lincolnshire). The coast is not too far away, with secluded beaches such as Theddlethorpe and Huttoft and many of our guests like to go seal watching at Donna Nook when they come for a winter holiday. If you prefer something a little busier, then there are the more traditional holiday resorts such as Skegness and Sutton on Sea, also within easy reach.
Dogs are welcome in select accommodation. There is a £20 charge per dog.
We also welcome horses and have plenty of grazing and there are an abundance of bridleways within easy reach of the farm.

Further details outdoors:
With 170 acres of ancient woodland, wildflower pastures, natural hedgerows and water meadows, to explore, Poachers Hideaway is the perfect place to relax in 5-star holiday cottage accommodation. On-site we can offer fishing on our Trout, Coarse and Carp lakes open to residents only , or you might like to take one of our guided walks which we offer on a regular basis.
Courtyard
The block paved courtyard is set between the the two banks of cottages. This is a real sun trap on a summers afternoon and a lovely place to sit outside your cottage and relax with a cup of tea or glass of wine.
Picnic Area
This is set well away from the cottages, out past Bluebell Wood and the Viking Way. It is a grassed area, shielded from the weather by hedgerows and gorse bushes - an ideal spot to enjoy a picnic or quiet reflective moment while out walking or blackberrying! Again the views are stunning and there is the opportunity to camp or BBQ by prior arrangement
Games
Badminton and croquet sets are available on request and there is a table tennis table set up in the function room for a rainy day.
All cottages are provided with a variety of board and card games together with DVD, CD players and radios.
Granary and Shirehorse Barn are provided with I-pod docking stations.
Fishing
Whatever your preference, we have a range of well-stocked fishing lakes here at Poachers Hideaway which are free for the exclusive use of our guests.
Pets
We know how important it is for the whole family to enjoy a holiday, and with all the space we have available at Poachers Hideaway, it would be a shame if you felt unable to bring your dog with you too. We have a 40 acre field just 2 minutes away behind the farm & cottages, where dogs can exercise freely off their leads. It’s beautiful up there!
Walking
Poachers Hideaway at Flintwood Farm lies nestled in the heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds in a designated “area of outstanding natural beauty”. The farm boasts 5 miles of private interwoven footpaths meandering around the lakes and woodlands, skirting the fields, up hill and down dale and the landscape and views are spectacular. From the top of Park Hill you can see down the Vale of Scamblesby past Goulsby to Belmont and Stenigot or down the Vale of Tetford across the Wash to Hunstanton in Norfolk. Looking out over Belchford village you can see Tattershall Castle and the fens.

This sparsely populated corner of Eastern England has a reputation of being flat, plain and proper, although on closer inspection it’s remarkably varied and uncommonly friendly. County capital, Lincoln, is the perfect place to start, with a stunning Gothic cathedral, Tudor streetscapes and a dramatic hilltop location.
The gently rippling hills of the Lincolnshire Wolds smooth down to eastern marshlands and sandy coast, and the dyke-scored Lincolnshire Fens flat-iron the southeast. While flamboyant medieval wool-wealth churches, red-roofed stone houses and windmills grace many towns, here too you’ll find arms-in-the-air beach resort Skegness and rich wildlife reserves where the loudest din is birdsong.
