The Heart of England/Peak District

Bamford is situated in the Dark Peak area of the Peak District. It is a working village with 3 pubs (one directly opposite the apartment), a cafe, general store and bakery. The church in the village was the marker point for the Dambusters practice flights which took place over the Derwent Dam and Ladybower Reservoir adjacent to the apartment.

Enless fantastic views across miles of beautiful countryside. It is a walking and cycling heaven.

Sheepdog trials take place in various villages throughout the summer as do the annual Well Dressing Festivals. Chatsworth House is nearby and holds annual Horse Trials in May along with a Country Fair and many other special events.

Hope Valley

The apartment is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty. It is a fantastic place to stay where you can really feel relaxed but able to get out and visit all sorts of places if you wish. Not that you will tire of the countryside but Sheffield and Manchester are easy to reach, both with wonderful galleries, theatres and shops. Buxton and Bakewell are both close at hand as are a whole range of Peak villages such as Castleton, with it's caverns and Eyam, known as the Plague Village for its interesting history.

In the neighbouring village of Hathersage there is an outdoor lido for summer swimming and the David Mellor Cutlery Museum which has interesting exhibits, a great cafe and a shop to replicate the one on Sloane Square.
