Grade II listed Red Doors Farm forms an enchanting private hamlet nestling in the Blackdown Hills, an area superb for walking and within easy reach of numerous sea side towns and beaches, yet only 3 miles from the market town of Honiton. We have 6 cottages sleeping between 2 – 8 guests + cots. All accommodation has been individually furnished to an extremely high standard and all are graded 5* by the English Tourism Council. Facilities include indoor swimming pool, games room, children's’ play areas..

Red Doors enjoys splendid views across the Otter Valley. It feels totally off the beaten track but yet it is so accessible. We are 3 miles from the market town of Honiton and Exeter is a 30-minute drive away. East Devon is known as the ‘countryside by the sea’ and the unspoilt southern coastline with its pretty fishing villages and smugglers coves is only half an hour away.

The Honiton area

The area is superb for walking whatever your level of fitness. You can enjoy fine countryside and fabulous views right from our doorstep, follow the coastal path or explore the wilds of Dartmoor and Exmoor. There are also many historic houses, castles and gardens including some fine National Trust properties such as Killerton House, Castle Drogo and Knightshayes Court. There are plenty of attractions for children of all ages from theme parks and wildlife parks to steam railways and farms. Or they could try something different such as sea fishing for mackerel, fossil hunting or pony trekking.

However you like to spend your time, a stay at Red Doors is certain to leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed.

“A truly relaxing stay” My extended family and I (party of 9) stayed here from 28 dec - 1 January in byre cottage and cider barn. The facilities in both were fantastic and had all the home from home comforts you would expect from a 5* property. I would mention that Byre cottage, the bigger of the two properties, also had a separate shower room in addition to the main bathroom which was a godsend when 6 of us were trying to get ready each day. My 7 year old daughter and her 3 cousins, 19 and 15 made good use of the games room and were regularly splashing about in the swimming pool. Something to note is that there are cobbled stones linking these two properties which become very slippery indeed when wet. My 83 yr old grandmother nearly slipped over a couple of times so not ideal for anyone with walking difficulties or the elderly. To conclude, Red Doors Farm is well situated to visit lots of surrounding areas - thanks Sarah for all your recommendations - we particularly loved Lyme Regis and if you like shopping, Exeter is not to be missed! We were all sad to leave but vowed to return, perhaps in spring/summer when we can enjoy all the other facilities available.
