Book now for 2015 at 2014 prices! Bright, airy and contemporary this simply chic holiday barn, is the epitome of modern luxury eco-living. A weekend sanctuary for recharging weary souls, or an inspiring outdoor break hiking in the hills or along the coastal footpath. Set ten minutes from the town of Honiton, the gateway to East Devon, you are perfectly placed here to explore the region. The town hosts weekly street markets and has a fine selection of independent shops, pubs, restaurants and supermarkets. Axminster, home of TV chef Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall's River Cottage Canteen and HQ, is just 11 miles and the city of Exeter just 20 minutes away.

Inside

An open plan layout with vaulted ceilings, oak beams, natural stone floors warmed by under-floor heating, and soft comfy sofas to cosy up to in front of the fire. The well equipped kitchen is stocked with eco products for your use and a large oak dining table in the centre of the room will display a wonderful welcome hamper brimming with organic and home grown goodies for your arrival. Both bedrooms have dreamy mattresses and are dressed in organic fine linen, the master with an en-suite double shower room and the twin with a separate double shower room

Outside

Outside a sunny patio area with table and chairs looks over the woodland and is a paradise setting for evening suppers alfresco. Explore the owner's private woodland and lakes (care must be taken with young children) and for the adventurous try a spot of wild swimming in one of the lakes below the cottage.

Families with children

A lovely property for families with young or older children especially those wishing to enjoy the outdoor life. Children will love the woods and ponds, however you must be careful and supervise children at all times around the open water. The barn does not cater for infants however for families with under 2's, babies may be accepted on request. There are some great day trips for families to enjoy - Try Escot just off the A30 on the way to Exeter, its a wonderful day for families to enjoy wildlife, fun outdoors and learn through play - a real must. Take the children to Charmouth and invest in a fossil hunters pack for children. You and your children will spend hours tapping away in the hope you might find the next T'Rex encased in rock.

Couples

A perfect choice! Whether you are coming away on your own or with another couple, this is a lovely grown up barn and adults will love all the refinements and little extras provided by the lovely owners who live next door. Although you are not within walking distance from a pub, the area is teeming with great gastro pubs and restaurants to enjoy. You are also just over 15 minutes from the centre of Exeter so a day's shopping followed by a meal out in one of the many restaurants is a must. River Cottage Canteen is well worth a visit but there are loads of other fantastic coastal and country pubs to try. In terms of the property, its is beautiful and very quiet and private. You only have the owners and another little cottage in the immediate area and the woods and ponds are a wonderful place to wander, take a book and chill out if you wish.

The Area

The cottage is ideally placed for exploring the region. Enjoy day trips to the beach, Beer, Branscombe and Lyme Regis all under a 30 minute drive. Sample the delights of The River Cottage Canteen, or events at River Cottage HQ, both based in Axminster, just 15 minutes away. The historic villages of Luppitt and Upottery are within a few minutes drive and both have local pubs. The market town of Honiton has a weekly street market a fine selection of shops, restaurants and tea rooms plus 4 supermarkets for daily essentials, and can be reached in less than 10 minutes.

The West Country region

There is so much on offer for anyone looking to take a holiday in Devon. It is truly a beautiful and diverse county with sweeping moorland, wooded valleys to dramatic coastline, long sandy beaches, hidden inlets and traditional seaside towns and villages. Famous for its traditionally mild climate although 2010 saw snowfall in areas that exceed the Alps. The county is also proud of its locally grown produce where green lush fields and crystal clear seas produce some of the very best food the UK has to offer.

For those who enjoy home cooking most of this is available through farmers markets and local village shops. For those who would rather leave it to the professionals, you will be tempted by an outstanding variety of fantastic restaurants from fine dining through a traditional Devon cream tea! So my advise is come and experience the lure of this glorious county - the scenery is spectacular and the food mouth-watering, delicious and if you are lucky the sun will shine and you will indeed have found the holiday of your dreams!

Honiton

Close by the village of Luppit, not quite within walking distance does have a pub, however Honiton has a fine selection of restaurants, pubs, tea rooms and coffee shops to enjoy. The town also has several antique shops so make sure you find time to browse you might pick up a bargain! There are also 3 out of town supermarkets, Tesco, Lidl and Aldi, plus a number of grocery stores in the town centre.

You have a choice of coastlines if you choose to stay here as the area is so accessible. You can be in the South Hams in less than 40 minutes, or the Torbay Coast in close to half an hour. Exmouth, a well-established family favourite seaside resort with its two miles of soft sands is also within easy reach, however I recommend you explore the Jurassic coastline, Sidmouth, Seaton, Beer are just a few of the beautiful coastal towns that make up this charismatic and diverse area of Devon and all within a half hours drive. A little further will take you to Lyme Regis and the Dorset coast.

Foodies will love this area as local produce is in abundance. Shop in Farmers markets or high street markets, or eat in some of the best restaurants, gastro pubs and beach cafes in the land. River Cottage Canteen at Axminster is less than a 15 minute drive and book ahead if you want to try the award winning River Cottage HQ.
