”Le vieux port” is a lovely completely refurbished flat, located directly on the old port with a spectacular view on “la lieutenance” the most famous monument of Honfleur and the charmous houses around the harbour. Located on the second floor, in an ancient nice house overlooking the port and a pedestrianized street, away from traffic yet only metres from the local market, art galleries and old heart of Honfleur with cafes and restaurants for eating out.

Totaly restaurated and tastfully decorated in 2008,enjoy the living room with four large windows ,furnished with a comfortable sofa, dining table and chairs to anebale you to dine with a spectacular view on the picturesque “vieux port” . The kitchen area has new fitted cupboards and worktops and is luxurious fully equipped . With one double and one twin bedroom, the apartment is ideal for families or two couples , with plenty in the surrounding area to see and do during your stay.

Honfleur / Le vieux port area

Honfleur between the tidal estuary of the Seine and the " Plateau d'Auge " welcomes you at any season.
As both, a sea and a river port, but also a port of cell, the city of Honfleur has preserved its rich artistic and historic heritage.

With the great discoveries, Honfleur was the birthplace of numerous navigators, sailors and captains. Samuel de Champlain (born in Brouage) organized from Honfleur several departures to Canada and particularly in 1608 with the founding of Quebec.

The river Seine has always inspired artists : painters, musicians, writers, poets.... Set by the Estuary, Honfleur not only gave birth to seamen but also to many artists in the 19th century...

Since the 19th century, Honfleur is the treasure of the artists, Eugène Boudin gathered around him many fellow artists as Jonkgind, Monet or the poet Charles Baudelaire. Impressionnism was born.

St Leonard's Church, discovers St Catherine's Church, old maritime district with its separate belfry.

Many events and festivals helds in Honfleur , by examples : - jazz festival in august , - "la fête de la crevette" wich means " the shrimp fest" : the grey shrimp is a local speciality and the inhabitants of Honfleur await this festival with much excitement, as it brings a sense of fun to the picturesque port in autumn - the Russian film festival is in November

A lot of sports, activity and museums are available: the "musée Erick Satie" the "musée Eugène Boudin", "the musée équatorial", several golf courses within 20 km , tennis, bowling and nautic activity.

How to get there

The easiest way of travelling to Honfleur is by ferry (IDLine.com):
-from Portsmouth to Le Havre - crossing time 5 hours or 8 hours by night- and then 30 minutes drive to Honfleur (enjoy the Pont de Normandie).
-from Newhaven to Dieppe - crossing time 3 hours - and then 2 hours drive to Honfleur.
-from Dover to Calais- crossing time 40 minutes on speed ferries- and then 3 hours drive to Honfleur
-from Dover to Boulogne- crossing time 55 minutes on speed ferries- and then 2.5 hours drive to Honfleur.

Also you can drive from Dover to Honfleur: Euro Tunnel 35 minutes and then 3 hours drive from Calais to Honfleur.

The kitchen area is installed in 2008 with ceramic hob with cooker hood over, traditional oven and microwave, refrigerator with ice box, washing machine, kettle, coffee maker and toaster. The fully equipped grey tiled shower room is equipped with a hairdryer. The WC is independant.

Blankets and pillows together with mattress and pillow protectors are included in the rental. Bed linen (sheets, pillow cases and towels) are not included, but can be hired at very reasonable rates from our local agents in Honfleur and we would be pleased to book them for you if you are not able to bring your own. Non-smoking preferred. The property is unsuitable for the elderly, infirm, wheelchairs or those with restricted mobility.

SECURITY DEPOSIT - Upon your arrival our local agents will require a Security Deposit of 300 Euros (or £250) in cash. This will be refunded to you on the day of your departure providing there are no breakages nor damage to the property or its contents.

CHILDREN AND PERSONS UNDER 25 YEARS OLD:
There must be at least two adults over 25 years old within the party, unless by special agreement.
