Home description

After travelling for work for most our our lives, my husband (French)and I (American) fell in love with Honfleur and particularly this house! It is large, centrally located but is very private and warm. Little to no noise although we are located just steps from the best restaurants and shopping. We especially cater to couples or those who wish a holiday break in Normandy and appreciate a good restaurant/glass of wine and of course not to forget the Calvados, local cheeses and wonderful breads!

My personal theme is to leave your car parked, walk about the beautiful town, its museums its beautiful architecture and hidden treasures found along the paved windy roads. Take an energetic walk up to the beautiful Cote de Grace to see another wonderful treasure of this special town.

Note that the house is NON SMOKING and our friends the animals are not permitted (we have two well behaved cats that spend most of their time in the garden)!

CHILDREN ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THE B&B due to the ambiance (and seating) of our guests at breakfast. Ok for well behaved children over the age of 10 in the apt Anis!

The Normandy / Calvados region

Calvados the land of excellent cheeses, butter, cream and of course 'Calvados' a liqueur based of apples taken as a digestive. A wonderful part of France with lots of character, beautiful architecture, museums, access to beaches and of course to the landing beaches. 45 minutes to Rouen and approx 1.5 hours to D Day beaches, Honfleur serves as a great starting point to explore the Pays d'Auge or to just relax and explore the beauty that Honfleur iteself has to offer by foot!

L'eglise St Catherine, the market saturday (and bio market wednesday) mornings, La Maison de Satie, The Eugene Bourdin museum the beaches the small streets, Cote Grace etc etc!

How to get there

Honfleur is very easily reached by the A13. From Paris approx 2 hours. From Ouistreham approx 1hour by car or from Dieppe via the Pont de Normandie bridge about 1hour and twenty minutes on the A29. Calais is approximately a three hour car journey. We are in the centre of town in the historic St Catherine district, two minutes by foot to the towns port and two minutes to the famous wooden church, l'eglise St. Catherine, where a lovely am market is held saturday mornings all year round.

Beautiful & comfortable salon reserved uniquely for our guests opens up onto the garden. Breakfast served family style in our main dining room or at a table for two in the salon. The house includes a ground floor kitchen in which our guests can store their food and/or cold items. Note there is no picnicing in the rooms! Lots of space downstairs for lunching in the main dining or garden!

The house is entirely done in Farrow & Ball paints and Pierre Frey (Paris) textiles. Each of the rooms have a style of their own and each bathroom has been completed with the best of materials for your convenience and comfort. We offer the Judith Jackson Spa line of soaps and personal anemities. Free public parking 150 meters from the house. Public pool and tennis courts 50 meters from the house.

Two minutes behind the house you will find the public gardens and a wonderful promenade along the estuary which leads to the towns beach. We are 50 meters from public pool, tennis courts, minigolf and skatepark! A twenty minute car ride brings you to the towns of Deauville Trouville with a beautiful beach (home to the American Film Festival in September), casinos excellent dining and shopping. If you come to Honfleur, dont forget to book *in advance* at one of our many fine restaurants. If you need assistance I would be happy to help! Please provide atleast one weeks notice for advance reservations.

Further details

During high season we have a minimum of two nights to secure a booking for weekends and French Holidays. Animals are not permitted. Children over the age of 10 are permitted in the Anis apt (max four people).

*The house is unfortunately not accessible to Handicapped. *Suggest you try the Hotel de Loges in the centre of Honfleur.

**Couples or singles are in preference vs large families . ** Suggest families try to book via Gites de France organisation.

We offer 3 self catered apts (Rouge, Anis and Le Trois) Optional delivery of frenchbreakfast can be arranged upon request at time of booking. Cleaning and linens included in rates.

SELF CATERING RATES 2009

-Apt Rouge 2 adults max = 165€ NO CHILDREN

-Apt Anis ( for 2-4 personnes max) = 165€ pullout bed for second couple well behaved children over the age of 10 ok

-Apt Le 3 two adults max 185€ per night two night min year round. NO CHILDREN
