About the home

This apartment, our family holiday home, is furnished to a high standard with a new fully equipped kitchen and home from home comforts to ensure everything is provided for a relaxing self catering holiday in the beautiful historic fishing port of Honfleur.

Apartments St Leonard, built in 2000, are located adjacent to the famous St Leonard Church and it's gardens and just three minutes walk from the "Vieux Bassin" (Old Harbour). The apartment has three bedrooms and a balcony with a beautiful view of Honfleur and is located on the third floor with an elevator, secure underground car park and resident 'gardien'. Whilst ideally located for access to quayside and centre ville the apartment enjoys a quite location yet still enjoying the views across Place St Leonard towards the bassin. Just beyond the bassin a short stroll leads you to the picturesque park with its colourful floral displays and a lovely walk right along the sea wall to the beach where you will discover Honfleur's "Park of Personalities" together with its own gardens and pond. With its cobbled streets lined with artisan shops, galleries, museums, cafes and restaurants our apartment offers a beautiful home to enjoy all that Honfleur has to offer.

Our bright spacious apartment has a large lounge /dining room with French doors leading to spacious balcony with beautiful views over Honfleur. An American style bar from the lounge gives open aspect to our beautiful fitted kitchen with window view over the balcony.

A spacious entrance hall with W.C., fitted storage cupboards and door to the kitchen. Three bright double
bedrooms, master bedroom with en-suite-bathroom incl. W.C.. Bath and basin. All bedrooms have French windows.Separate shower room. Separate W.C.

The Normandy / Calvados region

Aside from the Normandy landing beaches attractions include the Bayeaux Tapestry, Monet's Gardens at Giverny, the Seine Valley, various Norman Abbeys, Rouen and the famous beach resorts of Deauville and Trouville.

Only a short drive through the Calvados countryside will take you to Trouville with it's lovely sandy family beach, seaside cafes and waterfront market . Across the bridge you will discover Deauville with it's 'celebrity' boardwalk and long sandy beach backed by a wide choice of seafood restaurants.Here too you will find a casino, horse racing course, the annual film festival which takes place in September and a huge array of designer shops.

Nearest Golf course at St Gatiens a 15 - 20 minute drive or the impressive Deauville Golf course at approx 25 minutes distance.

The Honfleur / Saint Leonard's Quarter area

Cobbled streets, tall merchant houses, yachts, fishing boats with their nets, cafes and restuarants all line the quayside of Honfleur's historic vieux bassin, 'Old Harbour'. Here too you will find many artists sat before their easels painting this famous Normandy scene, capturing the unique architecture and it's beauty reflected in the water.

Wander through the cobbled streets to discover fascinating shops, art galleries, museums and seafood speciality restaurants around every corner. Everything is accessible on foot in Honfleur from the flower gardens to the Park of Personalities, the harbourside walk to the sandy beach. You will also find tennis courts, an open air swimming pool. mini golf, a tourist trainride or pony and trap ride around the town, or even a boat trip to visit the amazing Pont de Normandie. There is also a lovely butterfly museum where you can walk amongst the butterflies. With so much to see and do in Honfleur you may want to leave your car in the car park!

Every Saturday morning there is a large food market where you can purchase everything you need for a self catering holiday. Cheese, fish, meats, fresh fruit and vegetables and of course a limitless choice of breads. The market also has household and leather goods, clothes, jewellery, shoes, books and antiquity stalls.

There are many annual festivals that take place throughout the year in Honfleur and details of these are all available from the Tourist Office which is only 200 metres from the apartment.

The most popular travel route is via Ferry or Eurotunnel and onward by road to Honfluer. Your own transport is not essential in Honfleur but does offer the opportunity to visit many of the attractions in the Calvados region.

Ferries are available from Dover to Boulonge or Calais (crossing time approx 1.5 hours). Drive time to Honfleur 2.5 hours or 3 hours respectively.

Transmanche Ferries operate from Newhaven to Dieppe (crossing time 4 hours) with a drive time of 1.5 hours to Honfleur.

Portsmouth to Le Havre (crossing time approx 5 hours) Drive time of 45 minutes to Honfleur.

Eurotunnel Dover to Calais (crossing time 35 minutes). Drive time approx 3 hours to Honfleur.

“Excellent location” We chose the flat because we needed elderly access and this property has a lift. It was spacious with a balcony. Only draw back was the exit to the balcony had a lip and my elderly parents stumbled on this otherwise it was great.

“Fantastic apartment - Perfect location” We stayed in this lovely apartment for 1 week in july 2011 and would recommend it highly. If returning to the same area we would book again without hesitation Honfleur itself is a very picturesque harbour town with great restaraunts. The apartment has three double bedrooms with 1 ensuite bathroom, large lounge,functional kitchen and best of all a wonderful balcony with a great view. We enjoyed a good few bottles of red wine while watching the world go by in the evenings. Secure underground parking with your own space is also very handy. Thanks very much Lorraine and Richard.

During High Season we take one week minimum bookings and changeover day is Saturday.

During Low and Mid Season we accept 3 night weekend breaks (Friday, Saturday, Sunday nights) and 4 night mid-week breaks (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday nights).

All arrivals after 4 p.m. Departures by 10.a.m.

A non-refundable deposit of 20% will be required to secure a booking and the balance is due six weeks prior to departure.
