About the home

Recently converted former fisherman's cottage situated in the historic port area of medieval Honfleur. This typical XIXth century house is an ideal base to explore the preserved medieval town of Honfleur or to simply unwind by walking along the river into the Normand countryside. Ideally situated by the Sainte Catherine's district, a short walk leads to the restaurants, bistros and cafes of the attractive port area.

Renovated and decorated with taste, the cottage has retained it's character and offers a nice view over gardens. On the first floor, there is a well equipped kitchen, dining and living area. Sleeping up to four comfortably, there are two individual bedrooms on the second floor. Ideal for a small family group, this quaint cottage offers comfortable accommodation in a sought after holiday location.

Beware : 2nd floor, steep stairs, not adapted for physically challenged individuals.

The Villa Strassburger, the Old School, the Old Presbytery and Saint Laurent's Chapel. Trouville also known as Deauville's twin also offers a lovely seafront, a high end Casino as well as many pitoresque streets.

The largest military landing in history took place in Normandy June 6, 1944. Museums, monuments, bunkers and cemeteries are a lasting tribute to the Battle of Normandy, a unique experience and a must see.

“Charming Honfleur” We telephoned our key holder contact Annette about 5 miles from our destination. We easily found the house based on the link from the website and met up with Annette and received all our bed linen and towels. The description of the house on the website is accurate but I would add the following: 1) The bedroom with twin beds on the 2nd floor leads off the bedroom with a double bed. 2) The stairs from the entrance to the first floor are also steep. 3) The toilet and shower lead off from the kitchen area. 4) I would make a point of stating that there is no oven. The location of the house is perfect for exploring Honfleur. It is nicely furnished and well equipped with a good supply of kitchen utensils, making it an ideal base for exploring Honfleur and that part of Normandy in general. We took up the offer of private parking at a nearby lock-up garage at 8 euros per 24 hour period. We found this invaluable as parking in and around Honfleur is extremely difficult. There is free parking close bye but it was always full during our stay. Whilst in Honfleur we ate out at some the lovely local restaurants and travellled to the D day beaches of Omaha and visited the Bayeux tapestries. We would recommend this charming house to anyone wishing to stay in Honfleur, which is itself both delightful and picturesque, full of interesting old buildings, a delightful church, a lovely marina with many waterside eating places. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay in Honfleur. Our journey from Calais by car to Honfleur took approx. 3 hours using the French autoroutes.

“Perfect location and compact” Was met by annette in the evening as we could not arrive until late, very kind of them to accomodate this. She was very friendly and chatted lots in french and english when we could not understand which was great fun. Very helpful and showed us around. Taken up the compact spiral staircase which was fine for our 6 year old and us but would be difficult for people with mobility or balance problems. Its on the second floor to gain access. Enter a small lounge , fine size for the 3 of us. It had french tv and a dvd and wi fi . No english/sky tv. Decor a little out of date but very clean. Kitchen small , had hob,dishwasher (i think) toaster kettle and microwave, no oven. We are not big into cooking . There is little wortop space so just used the small table to make up sanwiches etc. Shower and toilet also on this level. Go up another spiral staircase to bedrooms. Enter large room with low modern king size bed. Very comfortable and modern room and furniture.no wardrobe in here but large drawer space. You have to enter the second bedroom through this room which has two single beds.this rooom had a freestanding clothes rail with about 8 hangers on it. This was fine for us and meant we had our daughter near. Location was perfect for us. Less than 2 minute walk to shops/bars/restaurants/art galleries and port.

“Great location, quality property, lots of stairs!” The apartment was fantastically located in Honfleur being only a few minutes walk from absolutely everything there is to do. A quiet street so we didn't need to worry about the traffic and a real feeling of being in the medieval centre of this beautiful town. The place was kept nicely clean and the local contact was great - smooth arrival and departure made the holiday that little bit easier. Small kitchen, but well equipped so we could cook for the family on the few nights we weren't out at the many local restaurants. Only (minor) drawback was the stairs - as with every property in central Honfleur, the staircase was steep and with this place being on the top floor it took a fair bit of humping the luggage up and down so it's not a place for those unable to make the physical effort.
