The East Anglia region

North Norfolk

From the unspoilt and empty beaches of Holkham (Shakespear in Love) and Brancaster, to the family friendly sands of Hunstanton, Sheringham, East and West Runton, Cromer and Mundesley, the North Norfolk Coast is truly remarkable and the perfect choice for visitors of all ages.

Head inland and you'll discover an undulating countryside with a rich agricultural past and home to a host of small and award-winning food producers. Pretty market towns are also waiting to be found, including gems such as Holt, Burnham Market, Aylsham, Fakenham and Stalham. Their historic streets lined with independent boutiques, galleries and delis are perfect for a day's ambling.

The area is rich in heritage and culture too - grand stately homes, museums, festivals and theatres are in abundance, as are popular and unique family attractions, walks and boating tours.

With the Norfolk Broads National Park, Norfolk also has the best bird watching, boating, and weather in the UK.

Holt

Edgefield

Wood Farm is on the edge of the village surrounded by fields and trees.

Edgefield is a small village with pub, garage (repairs only), pond, war memorial and newly opened shop “Chic Shack” which sells presents and items for the home and garden.

Edgefield has an entry in the Domesday book of 1085. In the great book Edgefield is recorded by the name of Edisfelda. The main landholders being Peter de Valognes and his main tenant is said to be Humphrey from Ranulf brothers of Ilger. There is said to be a Mill and 2 beehives. The village is described as being near the River Geet.

The parish church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul was rebuilt in the 1880s closer to the centre of the village at the instigation of the then rector, Canon Walter Herbert Marcon. Marcon was rector here for sixty years from the 1870s to the 1930s, and is remembered in Norfolk as the cycling parson, and for moving his church half a mile, stone by stone.

Norwich is a 20 minute drive, and Holt only 6. There are plenty of countryside walks from the farm, or from the nearby Holt Country Park and beyond. The National Trust property Blickling Hall (Tudor) is a 15 minute drive and must not be missed!
