Fantastic barn conversion with serious green credentials(EPC rated A)at the heart of Beer Mill Nature Trails (gold award Devon Wildlife Trust since 2003) ideal for family gatherings/celebrations and summer holidays - only a short drive to the safe sandy and surf beaches of North Cornwall - or winter weekend breaks for walking, talking eating and relaxing together around the huge stone fireplace with double sided log burner, wi-fi now available.

Luxury and comfort of pocket sprung mattresses, feather quilts and pillows, underfloor heating from ground source heat pump, piping hot water from solar panels with green tariff electricity back up (solar pv no win action) combine to make this a guilt free relaxing get away for everyone - we can even provide a chef with local produce so Mum and Dad can put their feet up.

The Stone Barn has been finished to an extremely high standard and sleeps up to 10+2 guests in the following accommodation: 3 kingsize rooms - 2 of which have en suite shower/wc, and one of which has a double sofabed suitable for 2 extra guests - 2 twin rooms, a further shower room, a feature bathroom, boot/utility room with full laundry facilities, open plan kitchen/dining/sitting room, private suntrap courtyard, large garden laid mainly to lawn with newly planted hedgerow, ample off road parking for up to 6 vehicles or more, exclusive access and use of the adjacent wildlife activity/games room (occasionally used by owners to host wildlife activities). From the garden gate guests are welcome to explore Beer Mill Nature Trails - 130 acres of private estate devoted to preservation and restoration of wildlife habitat including County Wildlife Site (not open to public)

Excellent local restaurants and pubs to suit all pockets from happy family pub right up to fine dining with wonderful south west wines. Try out a country fayre or one of the big agricultural shows, see and sample the finest produce Devon and Cornwall has to offer.

Music , small theatres, comedy clubs/pubs or moonlit walks along sandy beaches - one of the few areas left with little or no light pollution - leave all the fast and furious behind and enjoy life in the slow lane if only for a little while

“relaxing weekend” we stayed at the stone barn for 40th birthday celebrations with a group of family and friends, including babies, toddlers and young children. the house was perfect for our needs and really homely, comfortable and good for socialising with the large kitchen area and living room with a double fronted fire. the use of the games room was great particularly as the weather was a bit mixed. despite the weather we got out and explored the nature trails a couple of times which required nothing other than walking out the front door (and a pair of boots) which took the effort out of getting some fresh air in nice surroundings. we had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend in a house that was very well kitted out and very confortable and clean without ever feeling like it had never been lived in. would highly recommend it as a place to put your feet up and relax.

“Perfect location for a family get together” We recently spent a wonderful week in Stone Barn/South Beer for a family celebration/get together with extended family, teenagers and young children plus 3 dogs. We all had a fantastic time thanks to the excellent help from the owners Elaine and Dick Green. Lovely homely touches when you arrive including homemade cakes. It really is the perfect location, where everyone can have their own space and go off for lovely walks in the woodlands and enjoy the peace and quiet of the North Devon countryside. The activity/games room is a real plus for those wet days and it proved to be a very good party room as well! Thoroughly recommended.

“A perfect family getaway.” The Stone barn is a truly beautiful eco-cottage that has been renovated to the highest of standards. All the fixtures and fittings have been carefully thought through and blend in superbly with the chosen decor. The barn has a very warm and comfortable feel and we felt very at home either snuggled up on the sofas or enjoying a drink around the kitchen table. The kitchen itself is very well equipped: from utensils and cling film to vinegar, eggs and even a welcoming, delicious home made cake! The children loved getting all wrapped up, popping their wellies on and going for walks through the stunning nature reserve. The beautiful seaside town of Bude was within easy reach, as was Dartmoor and Okehampton.

“A great place for a large family or group of friends to stay” Initially we were all very impressed by the high quality of the barn conversion. Everything inside the barn--furniture bathroom/kitchen fittings were both tasteful and in keeping with the conversion. (No second hand tatty settees or rickety tables!!) The open plan kitchen (large) lead on to a substantiial sitting room. The bedrooms were spacious ,and the separate playroom (large enough to play full size table tennis) was an added bonus. The garden-mainly grass was big enough to kick a ball around, and for the younger members of the family to run about. The owner was welcoming and very informative regarding the Eco focus of the barn and conservation in the surrounding woods and fields. All of us --three generations thoroughly enjoyed our stay. A small point. As the property is off the beaten track , access is up a track which low slung cars would need to be very careful. A second TV might be a useful addition (play room?) Saves all ages having to watch Children's TV for peace and quiet! Response: Thank you for your kind review, we will certainly look into your suggestion regarding the extra tv and we will continue to do our best to maintain and stone the access track to the Stone Barn.
