The West Country region
This is a great area to explore, like the Tarka Trail which you can walk or cycle, and there are plenty of cycle hire places on the trail it is a good way to view the coastline and countryside.
To the west are Bude and Widemouth bay which have good beaches, or Clovelly which is a pretty fishing village with cobbled streets, deliveries to shops etc were by special sledges, still used today.
Hartland Quay is well worth a visit with its rugged scenery and good coastal walks. There are more good beaches to the East like Instow and at Braunton which stretch for miles to crow point and on to the Braunton marshes, excellent for bird watching and wild life.
The village of Bradworthy is approx 1 mile and has two small grocery shops, post office, off licence and an excellent butcher. There is also a pub. There are supermarkets at Bude and Bideford and the Atlantic Village designer outlet on the A39 at Bideford is worth a visit.
There is a Golf coarse at Hartland, and fishing at the Tamar lakes near by. Take the kids to The Big Sheep or the Milkyway, and for the more adventurous the Extreme Climbing Centre.
There is plenty of good Surfing in this area, so whether you want things to do or just enjoy the peace and quiet you will find it all in North Devon.
