Burnlee House is a stunning period property that can be dated back to the early 1800s. Over the years it has been a home for evacuees during the war, an old people's home and a farmhouse. It was restored to it's former glory by the previous and current owners into a lovingly cared for family home. The apartment is the entire top floor of the property and has a fully equipped kitchen, beautiful and spacious living area with a cosy log stove, two bedrooms and a large bathroom. All have large windows looking out onto the beautiful hillside opposite and up to Holme Moss.

Close to Holmfirth centre (6 minutes walk) and only a few minutes drive from the Peak district. The area is great for walkers, cyclists and people to enjoy the great outdoors.

When you've had your fill of being outside Holmfirth has plenty of teashops, bars and restaurants. Just around the corner from the apartment is a traditional pub serving excellent food (the chef is great!) and real ale. Please have a look at the Farmer Arms

Holmfirth became well known for the 'Last of the Summer Wine' series and there are many easily recognisable shops and buildings in the centre. It has a rich industrial heritage (mainly wool) which had a big impact on the architecture in the centre. There is also the Holmfirth Picture Drome which has been hailed as the 'North of England's finest intimate music venue' and always has some great events in the calendar. Holmfirth is also the hub of a creative community and there are many exhibitions, festivals and music competitions throughout the year.

We are not far from the transpennine trail and Holme Moss (visable from the apartment window) is a must for road cyclists being the only category A climb in the UK.

Holmfirth

The Peaks and Pennines around Holmfirth offer spectacular walking territory from short family friendly trails around Digley Reservoir to great challenges like the 24 mile Holme Valley Circular walk. The Peaks and Plains around Holmfirth also contain an extensive network of bridleways for horse riding like the Cartworth Moor Horse Route from Holmfirth into the Dark Peak Moorlands and the Wessendenhead horse route from the Huntsman Pub in Holmfirth up through the Holme Valley to Wessenden Reservoir. A wide choice of riding schools and B&Bs with facilities for horses are situated around Holmfirth, Honley and Meltham.

A choice of circular, riverside and reservoir walks are within easy reach of Holmfirth as you push south west towards Holmbridge and the Peak District National Park. A highlight walk from Holmfirth pushes southwest past Holme up to the spectacular Holme Moss View Point (525m above sea level) via the A6024 Woodhead Road. A car park sits near Holme Moss off the A6024 road for easy access. Stunning views of West Yorkshire towards Huddersfield can be seen from this high viewpoint. There is also the popular Holme Valley Riverside Way Walk (starts from Magdale) which runs for about 6 miles and links Holmfirth with pretty nearby villages including Honley and Netherthong. The popular and more challenging Holme Valley Circular Walk commences from Berry Brow near Huddersfield and winds around the Holme Valley for around 24 miles, taking in top historic sites and spectacular viewpoints in the area.

Reservoirs to the west and southwest of Holmfirth including Digley Reservoir and Ramsden Reservoir are sites for spectacular reservoir walks (see guides via the Yorkshire Water website link). Great family friendly walking trails sit around the Digley Reservoir with plenty of opportunity to extend walks into the Wessenden Moorland within the Peak District National Park.

The Holmbridge and Holme Walk is a 5 mile walk taking in the Pennine Moors and Peaks hills. This walk pushes past Yateholme, Ramsden and Digley Reservoirs. Maps and guides to all these popular walks around Holmfirth are available from Holmfirth Tourist Information Centre. Visit the Yorkshire Water website for comprehensive guides and maps on reservoir walks near Holmfirth.

"Comfiest bed i've ever slept in!!!!"

My husband & I stayed at Burnlee house for 3 days over NYE. We couldn't have asked for anything more perfect. The apartment is lovely & cosy with lots of little touches for a more comfortable stay. Kate was so warm & welcoming & always on hand for any questions. We even got fresh eggs for breakfast from the hens, delicious! The location of the property is perfect & 30 seconds walking distance from a lovely country pub. We will definitely be back. Thank you Xxx
