"Beautiful house in a great location, with a charming host"
The Old Mill is a lovely, characterful building, with adequate amenities for a large group to cater for themselves and enjoy a comfortable holiday. The location, just outside Matlock and on the edge of the Peak District, is perfect for a casual walking holiday. We got on well with the owner, who was attentive to our needs, but also discrete, and generally very friendly. (The adjacent "Cottage" is a perfect addition for a large group, providing additional space for anyone who wants a bit of peace and quiet.)

"Just Right for Us"
We stayed as a family group, eight adults, 3 small children and one baby. Very quiet location - did not notice any of the small amount of passing traffic. The house and cottage were well equipped in all respects and suited us well. Kitchen on the small side, but more importantly for us there was ample refrigeration space for a weekend's supply of food and drinks. Very good value. Thank you.

"Everything we needed for a great weekend break"
House was spotlessly clean with a good standard of fittings and furniture and is very well-cared for. Lots of pretty flowers in the garden. It was great to have plenty of toys and games for the children and sky sports for the grown-ups! Well situated to explore the area and the owners made us feel very welcome, nothing was too much trouble. You do need to watch young children on the spiral staircase, although the stairgate was very useful. The separate cottage was well furnished and equipped and ideal for our friends who aren't used to the early wake-up call from young children!

"great location and well run but not for young children"
we chose this property to meet with our family it has great views and lots of beds so it was nice. I woud go back there in 5-7 years time when the kids are older. The kitchen and dining room is on the lower floor and to get to it there is a spiral stair case. The living room is upstairs and very well organised it was a shame that to bring the tea mugs we had t go through the spiral staircase.
The spiral staircase is one of the feature of The Old Mill and there is now a baby gate available at the top of the stairs. And also, there are tea/coffee making services for the lounge.

"Fantastic hospitality from owners, great for groups and perfect base to explore the Peak District"
This quirky cottage surpasses all expectations you would have about a group countryside getaway. We took some friends to stay in the old mill and cottage (the cottage can be rented separately for 2 people) and had a great week/weekend away from everything, We found this to be a perfect location to visits many close-by tourist attractions including Alton Towers.
There was ample space and a lovely spiral stairway leading downstairs to the kitchen and outdoor area, complete with BBQ.
Added bonuses are Sky+, Gas BBQ, Supermarket close by in car, Board games &Lots of space!

"Great place for group gatherings & lovely location"
Stayed here with a group of friends for a 30th birthday and we all thoroughly enjoyed it! The cottage is a perfect size for a large group at a reasonable price and has everything you need. Location great for walking, lots of beautiful scenery. Local pub The jug and glass was great for our evening meal, lovely food at a good price and live music. Would definately stay here again and would recommend to others.
