The Derbyshire region

Hollinsclough is one of the smallest, most friendly and picturesque villages of the Peak District.

Vicarage Cottage is part of the old Vicarage of Hollinsclough.

Hollinsclough lies close to the River Dove in the Upper Dove valley, on the border of Derbyshire and Staffordshire. The attractive stone houses, chapel and village hall are flanked by the remarkable limestone peaks of Crome and Parkhouse Hills. Its position between moorland, open hills, rivers, streams and the peaks themselves make it a unique location for a wide variety of stunning scenery. Horses and cattle graze in the fields around the village and their voices are augmented by the cries of curlew and lapwing and the distant rumble of a passing tractor. Wandering chickens and ducks outnumber the other two legged residents.

Hollinsclough

The local towns (see Amenities) have much to offer. In addition, there are many different ways to enjoy the area.

For those interested in architecture and history

Hardwick Hall, Haddon Hall, Keddleston Hall, Tissington Hall and Chatsworth House are all nearby.

Among the many places that have something for all ages are:

Alton Towers

Calke Abbey and Sudbury Hall with its Museum of Childhood

Carsington Water and Tittesworth Reservoir

Crich Tram Museum

Chesterfield with its crooked spire

The Chestnut Centre (Otters and Owls)

The Heights of Abraham with its cable cars

The Peak Cavern, Blue John Cavern, Peveril Castle and Castleton

Peak Rail and Churnet Valley Railway (steam trains)

Poole’s Cavern in Buxton

The Tissington Trail, Monsal Head Trail, the Edale Trail and the High Peak Trail are wonderful for walkers and cyclists. Cycles can be hired on some of the trails.
