The South Island region

We are on the West Coast of the South Island, also known as the Main Island. We are 10 mins south of Hokitika and opposite the Treetop Walk, the only one in New Zealand and also on the Wilderness Cycle Trail route.

Our Home is Mahinapua Retreat and is in a native Forest setting. Our home is a peaceful and quiet place for you to relax and enjoy your time with us. We have a new and modern home with 2 bedrooms with ensuites supplied with luxury linen and towels for guests. We are always on hand to meet and greet our guests with Boz, our Border Collie puppy.

Our region is sub tropical so you will see lots of Forest and greenery around, there are many walks including the Mananui Walk to the beach only 5 mins away and also the Mananui Tramline that goes to Lake Mahinapua and also Lake Kaniere which has the Dorothy Falls to see as well as the Hokitika Gorge which are all within 30 mins away and lots of other walking tracks to go to see. The beach is only 5 mins away and you can be the only people on the beach for miles.

We have the Wildfoods Festival in March coming up on 7 - 9 March 2014.

Hokitika is central to the West Coast where you can go to Franz Josef Glacier and Fox Glacier as well as travelling further south to Haast on your way to Central Otago and Queenstown or going north to Greymouth to catch the train over the Alps to Christchurch or further north to Punakaikai to see the Pancake Rocks and the blowholes and Westport as well as travelling further on to Nelson and Moteuka before heading to Blenheim and the wine area.
