The Antigua region
Antigua, in the heart of the Caribbean, cooled by the constant tradewinds, enjoys a comfortable climate year round. Winter lows in the upper 70's and summer highs in the upper 80's fahrenheit. Once a British Colony, Antigua gained independence in the 1981. Remnants of its colonial era can still be seen at some the historical sights on the islands, such and the famous English Harbor, now the winter port for many of the world's biggest mega yachts. English Harbor is bustling with activity during the winter season, which starts at the beginning of December and finishes with the annual "Antigua Sailing Week" sailing regatta the last week of April/first week of May.
Hodges Bay area
Coral Vista is conveniently located, just a 10 minute drive to St. John's, where you can find an array of little boutiques. After a morning of shopping, grab a pizza at the Big Banana Restaurant in St. John's, then stop off at the C&C South African Wine Bar in Redcliffe Quay and sip a glass of wine, or pick up a bottle to enjoy on the terrace when you get home. Don't forget the ice cream - Australian Ice Cream, also in Redcliffe Quay, has a first class selection of premium ice cream. Then laze away the days by the pool, enjoying the view or take a 15 minute walk to the nearest beach, Jabberwock and have a "seabath" as the locals say. After all, you are on vacation................... Also, just a 5 minute ride is Cecelia's Cafe, a wonderful place to have lunch and enjoy the beach. For a night of fine dining, 2 minutes (by car) is the LeBistro. Just remember, no where in Antigua is really far. The farthest point at any one time will only be about 45 minutes by car.
