The East Anglia region

Located in the heart of East Anglia, Brandon is a quiet market town in Suffolk that has instant access to Thetford Forest and the Brecks. Within a short walk guests can be at High Lodge ( or Brandon Country Park, or even taking a boat trip on the Little Ouse River which runs through the heart of the forest. Here you can see Kingfishers, Otters, large birds of prey and if you're lucky, the Golden Pheasants which inhabit the area.

You can go mountain biking on the many trails around the forest, or make your own trail up on the myriad single track areas that you'll find within a mile from the cottage.

There are horse riding centres and historical sites of interest such as Grimes Graves, and the north norfolk coast is only 40 miles up the road where the golden beaches at Holkham and Wells are second to none on a bright sunny day.

Hockwold cum Wilton

Brandon is a small town in the English county of Suffolk with an estimated population of just over 9,500. Brandon has a small market every Thursday and Saturday in addition to the number of small, independent shops and national businesses in the town.

Surrounded by acres of forest, Brandon has a fascinating history that dates back hundreds of years, a time when Brandon was known as Brandon Ferry and the High Street was Ferry Street.

Within a very short walk, you can be in the Forest and an easy way to start and finish your walk is from the Brandon Country Park if you are not familiar with the area.

Brandon Country Park, located in Suffolk, was originally a country house with extensive parkland. It is not difficult to imagine Edwardian ladies and gentlemen walking on the lawns by the lake. It is now managed for wildlife and people. In spring, hundreds of toads breed in the lake. Dragonflies and damselflies dart and skim across the water in the summer sunlight. From the lake, you also get clear views of the house. There are marked trails, a walled garden and tea rooms open all year round.

High lodge in Thetford Forest boasts mountain biking trails (easy and more difficult), huge adventure play areas, open air concerts in the summer time ( as well as bike hire and sales, and a cafe. Why not let the kids go mad on Go Ape while you take a ride on an off road Segway ( - yes really!
