The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

Turkey is usually very warm and sunny, so the cooling breezes are most welcome at the villa's location on the mountain slopes (1000 ft above sea level), away from the famous hot beach and lagoon of Oludeniz. Everywhere you look there is stunning scenery and beautiful landscapes.
Oludeniz is one of Turkey's most acclaimed beach resorts and is probably one of the the most photographed s anywhere in the world! The vivid turquoise waters of the lagoon and bay rest beneath Babadag mountain. People travel from all over the world to paraglide from its summit, but you don’t have to be an expert, there are many companies that will take you up and let you paraglide with professionals who will ensure you have the best possible experience.
The lagoon at Oludeniz is protected, and is not allowed to be sailed in by any type of boat, except the pedal boats, that can be hired in the lagoon. There is a small charge to get into the lagoon, but it is well worth it. There are shallow waters for children, and deeper waters for adults. There are also small platforms that you can swim out to and sunbathe on.
There is a whole range of watersports, lots of shops, restaurants, bars and a lively night life! Oludeniz can be reached from Hisaronu in 10 minutes by either dolmus for 2 lira per person or by taxi for around £5 for four people.
Fethiye is a historical harbour town, which is worth a visit to see the ancient Lycian rock tombs, browse around the shops in the narrow streets of the old town or just admire the beautiful sunsets from one of the many restaurants along the harbour. You can book boat tours of the 12 islands in Fethiye bay or you can take a water taxi to Calis beach, where there is also a waterpark. There is a huge market in Fethiye every Tuesday.
There are many places that can be visited in the local area, including the Dalyan river mud baths, Saklikent gorge, the ancient city of Ephesus and the calcium mountains and spas of Pamukale. A couple miles away is the deserted Greek village of Kayokay. This is the remains of a town vacated by the Greeks after the War of Independence in 1922. It is located on a hillside and it is fascinating to wander around the deserted houses and churches. The centre of Kayakoy boasts several traditional Turkish restaurants serving delicious local cuisine.
There is also a ski resort about an hours drive away, for winter holidays.
The Hisaronu / Ovacik area
The charming hill town of Hisaronu, a short distance inland from Turkey's Mediterranean coast, has boomed into a popular holiday resort bristling with hotels, bars, restaurants and shops. Hisaronu is centrally located on the 'Turquoise Coast', within a short 'dolmus' (local bus ) ride from the busy centre of Fethiye, the beautiful seaside resort of Oludeniz with its blue lagoon and crescent beach, and numerous sites of interest. Being set at high altitude the town also has the advantage of being cooler and less humid than the coast, a pleasant refuge to retreat to after a day in the summer sun.
The main street of Hisaronu is well supplied with a variety of stores selling everything holidaymakers look for in Turkey, from fake designer-wear to carpets and leather goods. Be prepared to do some friendly haggling, which is expected and part of the shopping experience.
Hisaronu has a variety of restaurants that cater for all palates of international tourists, from traditional English to Chinese, Indian, Italian, in fact whatever really takes your fancy! Prices are about half of what you would expect to pay in the UK, a large beer will set you back just over £1. Most are along the main street, including favourites like the Shine Indian Restaurant and the Dragonara Chinese restaurant. For traditional Turkish delights the Olive Tree is hard to beat.
The nightlife of Hisaronu is legendary on the 'Turquoise Coast', its clubs and pubs rocking until the early hours during the summer season. Holidaymakers will find everything from Turkish theme nights to British soccer, 60s discos or full-on nightclubs.
