The streets of Hisaronu, Oludeniz and Fethiye have many tour operators from which you can purchase various excursions. A brief summary of a few selected trips are described below:
Saklikent Gorge – Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty A trip to Saklikent Gorge at Oludeniz is an amazing place. 20 km long Saklikent Gorge is the second largest in Europe and the longest and deepest in Turkey. Summer is the best time to visit as the Canyon is cool and shady with cool water. When you arrive, the entrance to the gorge is under the bridge over the large stream. A narrow walkway suspended from the rock wall will take you into the gorge. Once inside, you reach the Ulupinar springs where water bubbles up under great force from the base of the cliffs and you wade across the stream into the gorge to begin your walk. Outside of and tucked within the gorge locals have set up small restaurants with seating areas on wooden platforms suspended just above the rushing waters. These are a great place to kick back upon Turkish rugs and cushions with a beer under shady trees. Among other things on the menu, they offer delicious fresh trout. Outside of the gorge you will also find tree-house accommodation, small relaxed bars and river tubing. River tubing rides last from 45 minutes to about two hours, depending on which ride you choose.
Canoeing on the Xanthos River. Enjoy a fun day river canoeing on the Xanthos River. Experienced river guides take on a journey across ancient Lycian lands of lush and tranquil nature with a break for a BBQ lunch. The ride is effortlessly downstream, the journey ends at Patara beach with time for a swim
Mountain Trekking - Trekking in the mountains behind Kas is some of the most beautiful scenery in the Taurus range. Below the tree line and winter snow are the yayla (highland plateaus). Falling away from them; canyons, gorges and passes, down which in spring the melting snow rushes. The scenery is dramatic.
Jeep Safari- Jeep Safari is an exhilarating way to experience the countryside of Lycia. Be prepared for the water fights along the way. Not for the faint hearted!
Mountain Biking -For a fun and exhilarating day out enjoy the spectacular scenery of the mountain valleys, streams, canyons, unknown ancient cities and authentic mountain villages. A typical one day decent usually come from the mountains back to the stunning views of the Mediterranean.
