The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

The Turquoise Coast is situated South West of Turkey. It is an area of outstanding beauty with pine clad mountains, beaches, and lots to do for all ages. The apartment is situated in Ovacik which is very peaceful during the day. A short walk (approx 10/15 mins) takes you to the neighbouring village of Hisaronu where you will find a wide range of shops, restaurants, bars, clubs and hotels. From Hisaronu you can take a short dolmus ride to Kaya Village (which is also know as the Ghost Town) and is increasingly becoming a popular tourist attraction with it's many restaurants and bars. Olu Deniz is also a short dolmus ride away, here you will find one of the most photographed beaches in Turkey. It boasts a long blue lagoon which is suitable for all ages, there is also a private beach. Olu Deniz is a bit like Hisaronu, in that there are an abundance of restaurants, bars and shops. Fethiye is a 15 minute dolmus ride away and this is a bustling market town with a harbour and lots bars, restaurants, and shops (where you can shop till you drop). There is a Market here every Tuesday where you can gets lots of lovely presents to take back home. From the harbour you can also arrange many numerous boat trips (which is a must). The average temperature in the summer is 30 - 40 c.

Ovacik is quiet and peaceful during the day. It sits up the mountain 1000ft above sea level. Because of this there is normally a cooling breeze which can sometimes give you the impression that is is not as warm as it really is, but can be very welcoming in the hot summer temperatures. There are several small shops nearby for all your food essentials and also several hotels, restaurants and bars where you can get a three course meal at a very reasonable price. The Market is here every Monday. A 10 minute walk will take you to a new water park with 5 slides.

Most of the nightlife is based in the lively village of Hisaronu which is a short 10/15 mins walk away. Here you will find every kind of food you could possibly imagine, and the cost again is so economical. There is something for everyone here and you can only feel relaxed and content. From Hisaronu you can book a number of excursions, all which are available at very reasonable prices and most of these include lunch in the price.

"Lovely, comfortable villa"

Lovely apartment on two floors. Ground floor of the villa is owned by someone else but they were very friendly and quiet. We might not have been quiet! The apartment has three great balconies which are nice to have a drink on before you go out and about! Kitchen adequate and has facilities to make food if you would like to and has pots/ pans/ plates and lots of glasses etc. On arrival there was bread/ milk/ water/ butter/ honey and biscuits waiting for us- which was great as we were on a late flight. There are three good sized bedrooms, the top floor bedroom was gorgeous it covers the whole top floor- has its own large bathroom with lovely shower and private balcony. We didn't eat in the villa for evening meals as the area is so reasonibly priced for eating out.

Pool area was very clean and was maintained daily. We stayed late September and a couple of days we had the pool to ourselves- but when other people were around the pool they were very friendly and mainly owned villas on the complex so could give us good tips on places to go. Never struggled to get a sunbed! And you are provided with very comfortable sunlounger covers. Garden area around the pool/ villas is also very pretty. Overall the villa was very clean and had all the facilities we needed.

Hasan's bar on the complex is a good place to get a drink for lounging around the pool and Hasan was also good at giving advice on places to go. He has many contacts for booking resturants/ Turkish Bath etc.

The area of Ovacik is a two minute walk from the apartment. It is fairly small and quiet but has plenty of bars and restaurants. Good place for a cheap breakfast is the Mirage just on the corner. We had a beautiful Turkish meal on our last night just before leaving for the airport at the 'Three Cheers' restaurant a short walk from the apartment on the same road as the Mirage. We wished we had found it earlier as we would have returned. The owner was very friendly, food lovely and very reasonably priced- they give you a huge Turkish bread and dips on arrival- we struggled to eat it between six.

Other great places to go are the Sundial restaurant which is on the hillside overlooking Fethiye where you can watch the sunset in beautiful surroundings. Ask Hasan to book this for you- free return taxi is included. Yengtze restuarant is on the back route walk to Hisaranou- it is owned by an English family and the food was gorgeous- you will need to book a table here as they are often booked up. We would definately recommend having a Turkish bath at the beginning of your holiday- very relaxing and apparently good to prepare your skin for tanning! Not for the shy and retiring type! ha.

Hisaranou is a ten minute walk from the apartment- lots of lively bars and nice restaurants here all reasonably priced. Good shops to buy 'designer' goods. The market isn't great here- people recommended Fethiye market which is on a Tuesday.

Olu Deniz is beautiful and definately worth spending a day by the blue lagoon- also lovely for a meal here if you fancy a change of scenery- a little bit more expensive than Hisaranou/ Ovacik but not overly priced.

Lovely trip is Dalaman/ Turtle Beach includes a boat trip and stop of at Turtle Beach which is a lovely sandy beach/ clear water and was very peaceful at this time of year. Would not recommend the Jeep safari as it was not what it said on the tin- not sure if this was because it was near the end of season as people had recommended it to us and said it was great fun. Be warned most trips include a trip to a carpet or jewellery factory! Carol and Tayfun's sunset boat trip was fab! Watched the sunset, had a lovely meal and then a dance to a variety of music which catered for all of us aged 24- 50 years old.

Only one recommendation to the owners- we only had one key to the apartment and there were six of us/ 3 couples so we had to meet up at a set time to make sure we could get in to the apartment.

This area of Turkey is beautiful and we all had a brilliant holiday and would return to the area and stay in this apartment again! Jackie arranged our transfers from and to the airport which was great- no hassle and a comfortable journey.

"truely amazing apartment :) 5star plus accomadation :)"

Firstly i would like to thank you both so much for letting us stay in your wonderful apartment, i have travelled many times to the area and stayed in many different places and your apartment is by far the best place we have stayed :) yet i must say that your photos do not do the place justice, it is far more superior than the pictures show and as for the jacuzzi, well we were speachless , still cant believe we stayed in such luxury for the week, we will definatley be back in touch with you to stay there again and highly recommed others to stay :) oh and as for the beds.......i did try to pack the mattress in my return suitcase, so comfy :)
many thanks again
