Hindon

Close to the borders of Wiltshire and Dorset, Beckford Cottage is perfectly placed for easy access to the wide variety of attractions in the area. There are wonderful walks in the immediate vicinity - around Fonthill Lake for example, and slightly further afield in the Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the New Forest. The whole of this part of the world is full of historic sites such as Stonehenge and Avebury, and magnificent houses open to the public – Longleat, with its famous safari park, Stourhead and Wilton House to name but a few – as well as Bath with its Roman remains and Regency architecture and the nearby city of Salisbury which boasts one of the finest Cathedral Closes in the country. Hindon itself has two excellent coaching inns (and a convenient shop), and there are several well-known pubs not far away, including - very appropriately! - the Beckford Arms at Fonthill Gifford.
