Home description

Welcome to your Hilton Head Home-Away-From-Home! Renovated inside and outside to be bright, cheery, and comfortable. Close to the beach ... only 800 feet away ... just a 4-minute walk. Located on the Palmetto Dunes lagoon ... watch canoes and kayaks drift past while sitting on the private dock.

Please visit our HiltonHeadHomeAway website for more info and photos (see 'Visit the owner's website' at the end of this listing page)

Our home has 4 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths and Sleeper Sofa. It comfortably accommodates 8-10 people. A large circular drive provides easy parking. A massive ‘live oak’ tree shades the home.

Our home is in Palmetto Dunes – a world-class resort and Hilton Head Island's family destination of choice for golf, tennis, and adventure! Stroll along three miles of uncrowded beach. Enjoy canoeing or kayaking on 11 miles of winding lagoons teeming with wildlife. Rent a bike and cruise over miles of paved bike paths or enjoy a little beach cycling along the shore. Take a charter fishing excursion and battle the big ones in the Gulf Stream. Or simply relax and soak up the sunshine.

If you enjoy golf, there are three distinctively different layouts by legendary golf designers. Consider the Robert Trent Jones Oceanfront Course, Arthur Hills or George Fazio courses - all rated an outstanding 4 stars plus by Fodor's Golf Digest Places to Play.

If you enjoy tennis, Tennis Magazine has ranked Palmetto Dunes among "The 50 Greatest U.S. Tennis Resorts" since 1975; and Palmetto Dunes Tennis was also recently ranked #5 in the "World's Top 100 Tennis Resorts and Camps" by Tennis Resorts Online.

Palmetto Dunes Outfitters (within walking distance from our home) offers kayaks, canoes, bikes, fishing rods and reels, and beach gear. Take a nature tour, charter a boat, or experience a dolphin encounter with the whole family.

For waterfront shopping and dining there's no comparison to Shelter Cove Harbour's Mediterranean-style atmosphere and waterfront setting.

The South Carolina region

From steep, sloping mountain forests to lush farmlands that evoke the English countryside to white sandy beaches, the Carolinas and Georgia offer a landscape as diverse and colourful as the personable demeanor of the region's residents. The Carolinas and Georgia are major destinations for travelers. Charleston and Savannah rank among the top 10 cities in the country in Condé Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards year after year.

Hilton Head Island area

The largest sea island between New Jersey and Florida, and one of America's great resort meccas, Hilton Head is surrounded by the Low Country, where much of the romance, beauty, and graciousness of the Old South survives. Broad white-sand beaches are warmed by the Gulf Stream and fringed with palm trees and rolling dunes. Palms mingle with live oaks, dogwood, and pines, and everything is draped in Spanish moss. Graceful sea oats, anchoring the beaches, wave in the wind. The subtropical climate makes all this beauty the ideal setting for golf and for some of the Southeast's finest saltwater fishing. Far more sophisticated and upscale than Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand, Hilton Head's "plantations" (as most resort areas here call themselves) offer visitors something of the traditional leisurely lifestyle that's always held sway here.

Although it covers only 42 square miles (it's 12 miles long and 5 miles wide at its widest point), Hilton Head feels spacious, thanks to judicious planning from the beginning of its development in 1952. And that's a blessing because about 2.3 million resort guests visit annually (the permanent population is about 35,000). The broad beaches on its ocean side, sea marshes on the sound, and natural wooded areas of live and water oak, pine, bay, and palmetto trees in between have all been carefully preserved amid commercial explosion. This lovely setting attracts artists, writers, musicians, theater groups, and craftspeople.
