House | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 7
Hale Mar provides the best value in luxury, absolute ocean front homes in Hawaii, with private swimming pool, outdoor hot tub, resort quality furnishings, gourmet kitchen, full laundry, FREE wireless internet, and more. Close to the active Volcano for unique day and night lava viewing hikes, and to great snorkeling with fishes and turtles in the volcanically heated tide pools. Whales (in winter) and dolphins can be seen from the back yard.
Hale Mar vacations have been enjoyed by newlyweds, families, couples vacationing together, retirees, and business people in Hawaii for work at the University or elsewhere, as well as those on the island for spectacular events such as the Merrie Monarch Hula Festival or the Ironman Competition.
The Paradise Park area and Puna peninsula are famous for stunning and serene natural beauty: waterfalls, black sand beaches, turtle sanctuaries, whale watching, tropical birds and flowers, dramatic lava flows at the active Volcano National Park, rainforests, orchid farms, world famous observatory, and active artists' community. Popular activities include swimming, snorkeling, scuba, hiking, horseback riding, golf, winetasting, birdwatching, photography, bicycling, and beaching.

The Hawaii region
Hawaii's Big Island is wildly beautiful, with a dozen micro-climates ranging from tropical rainforest to snowy mountain desert.
The Big Island of Hawaii features the cleanest air and water in the United States: you feel good just being there.
The climate ranges from 65-75 degrees Farenheit in the winter to 80-90 degrees in the summer; spring and fall are usually 75-80 degrees. A typical day has 2 hours of rain and 10 hours of sun; it usually rains a bit more in the winter and a bit less in the summer.
Hilo is Hawaii's second largest city but has only 150,000 inhabitants, and the suburbs like Hawaii Paradise Park are still rural, quiet and natural, yet convenient to services like restaurants, grocery stores, banks, etc.
Within a few minutes' walk of Hale Mar you can stroll by rainforests, crashing surf, tide pools and cow pastures. Within a few minutes' drive you can visit fern, orchid and papaya farms, black sand beaches, volcanically heated tide pools, and live lava flows. Within 30 minutes' drive you can find museums, wine tasting, art galleries, golf, scuba and horseback riding.
The Merrie Monarch Festival in the spring is the world's largest and most renowned Hula festival. The Iron Man competition in the fall is famous for bringing together top endurance athletes from all over the world.
