"Not as described, unfortunately"
Our satnav sent us to the wrong property, but it had the 3 white gates, as described in the email from the owner. We then phoned to ask directions, but because we were looking out for the white gates,… More
We are very sad that you had such a poor experience here at Dilston cottage, and disappointed that you did not draw our attention to the problems you had while you were staying here- we do have a feed back form in the cottage which we encourage guests to complete. The property should not be described as suitable for those with mobility difficulties and we have corrected this error on the holiday lettings website. The gates had just been renewed in the last month so unfortunately this guest had received details of arrival before the gates had been changed. It is always difficult to maintain a suitable level of non obtrusiveness to our guests when we live next door to the cottage and we are sorry that in this case we were obviously too hands off!

"We loved it!"
The apartment itself was pleasing: nicely designed, well laid out, well supplied, comfortable. The internet pictures had prepared me for that. The beds were very comfortable. That, you can't tell from pictures. Also, you can't tell from pictures the pleasantness of the hosts. '
The location was very good, just outside Corbridge, a 10-15 minute walk away. What a sweet little town with its ancient church and handsome bridge and lovely buildings and shops and gardens. Not far away by car is Hexham, bigger and with its wonderful old abbey and huge Tesco. We drove out to admire Hadrian's wall, up to Seahouses to take a boat to the Farne islands and look at the arctic terns (most unfriendly), the puffins, the guillemots, and the cormorants. We spent a half day at Alnwick Gardens, very beautiful and astonishingly ambitious. We visited Cherryburn, the childhood home of Thomas Bewick, the highly accomplished artist whose small wood engraving prints illustrated late 18th century bird guides. Then we spent a day in Newcastle where we went to Northern Print and the Laing (sp?) Art Gallery.
And it didn't rain at all.
