I've just returned from the house in Capelles les Hesdin after a great week. I've stayed in many houses in the area and this property and the location is by far the best. It is well equippe… More

"It does what it says on the tin"
The house had everything we needed and was a great base to visit tourist spots such as Le Touquet, Montreuil, Le Crotoy as well as First World War memorials. Hesdin itself is only about 7 minutes away… More

"Spacious house, good value for money but could do with updating."
We booked this cottage last minute with Holiday Lettings for four nights over May half term. We had issues over booking as no confirmation was received from Holiday lettings and, as it was a last mi… More
I thank you for your review and kind words concerning the gite but I must say that you seem rather negative about this property. As with any holiday house there are always going to be imperfections and certain things not to personnal taste but with the majority of guests that have stayed in this gite have found it very clean, spacious and comfortable. It would seem that your major issue is with the weather and of which I can do nothing about, however there are many indoor activities available in the region so it is a shame that there was nothing to suit your family. With regards to the radiators there are only 2 raditors in the whole house with small rust stains from previous small leaks , which have been repaired and so the small plastic containers are there just as a percaution(all clean and dry. I am sorry about the upstairs shower as I was unware that this was broken, some guests do not tell me if they have broken items so I cannot know! This will be replaced this week. I think it is worth saying that you booked a house with 2 bedrooms and I allowed you to use upstairs (bathroom and bedroom)at no extra cost, so it just seems a shame that you have been so critical of a nice house. You had, as you mentioned, internet access so most people use this as a resource for finding local tourist information and amemities and as I always meet guests at the house and explain house details there seems no real reason to have a welcome pack. Tea and coffee are never used when supplied in the past as most people have a personal brand preferences. This is a self catering accomadation.

"Clean and spacious"
Lovely quiet country location directly opposite a church that calls out the time on the hour and the half hour and randomly during the day so very noisy from early morning onwards.
No Internet and no sky or cable tv so no outside communication which can be a blessing or not.
The house was lovely and well presented and Tara (point of contact) was very friendly, welcoming and helpful.
Only downside for us was the noise of the church all day and from early morning too! And we live in a village with a church!!
The internet connection will be available in th near future and I am sorry about the church bells. There are certain times in the year when the bells do ring more frequently and some people like the sound. I am sorry if this was a problem for you but it is part of of our village and there is nothing I can do in this respect except supply earmuffs for those who want them!! Most people find it charming and accept it as typical french living but I can understand your point of view!
