Barn | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 6
Our barn has been designed around family life and has a large, open planned arrangment, with a mezzanine overlooking the kitchen so that conversations over glasses of wine can continue. The 12 foot long table made of scaffold boards allows seating for up to 12 comfortably. The separate games room contains a 40 inch television with English channels, DVD and games consoles (including WII XBOX 360 and Playstation 2--all with games) and a table football.Double doors from the games room ,lead out to a boules area with an outside table tennis table.
The lounge has a double height ceiling, with double doors leading onto a secluded child friendly terrace from which you can watch our neighbour Jose drive his cows past ,twice daily in the Summer. In addition, the lounge contains a log burning stove, for those cosy evenings watching the flames and contemplating life over a glass of wine.
The accomodation is arranged with a normal sized double bed upstairs in the main ensuite bedroom,2 antique french "small doubles" (4 ft beds)--(which can each accomodate a couple "snugly"!!) together in the second bedroom ,and 1 set of bunk beds (sleeping 2 children in 2 singles "up and down") and a toddler bed (sleeping smaller child in the third bedroom. There is a sofa bed on mezzanine which can open out to a small double. There is a "day bed" ,which is single,in the lounge and a further sofa bed that opens to a small double bed in the games room .
Fressin is a small village set between the two market towns of Hesdin and Fruges (both 10 mins drive and with all amenities) containing its own 15th century castle ruins, restaurant, wine merchant and football pitch (opposite the barn) and is served by a regular bagette/ patisserie van and grocery van.
"Les Sept Vallees" or The Seven Valleys area is named after the seven rivers that pass through the region and is a wonderful combination of gently rolling hills and open countryside, ideally suited for walking, cycling (miles of dedicated cycle paths including the Baie de Somme--a beautiful, flat, off road cycle path ideal for children) and relaxing.
Please note that whilst our barn could accomodate a maximum of 9 and a baby/toddler this would mean using sofa beds or the small doubles as doubles, and the day bed as single, and it is probably more comfortably regarded as sleeping less--6 or less ideally
