The kitchen is spacious, modern and well equipped with gas oven/hob, microwave, toaster, fridge, freezer, washing machine and drier. There is a wide range of crockery, pots and pans and small appliances (kettle, can opener, coffee percolator etc) and vacuum cleaner and cleaning material/brushes

This is in addition to a garden with orchard. Although there is a spin drier, there is ample washing line space in the garden also.

Whether a family, or a group of friends you will find a very warm welcome from your host Barbara. It offers peace and quiet yet only 10 minutes away from the local town of Hesdin with its history, cafes, restaurants and shops (5 supermarkets) plus the new swimming pool, sauna & 10 pin bowling complex. In the opposite direction is the small town of Beaurainville (2 supermarkets) which is only 5 minutes drive away. Further afield there are the cathedral towns of Montreuil, Abbeville, Amiens and Rouen and of course Paris is only 21/4 hours away so is easily a day trip. There are many sandy beaches within a half hour drive such as Berck plage and Le Touquet.

If you wish to stay in, there is plenty of space to relax and the 1 acre fully enclosed flat grassy recreational area is ideal for children where they can play in safety.

Laurel House is suitable for holidays at any time of the year - it is fully heated all year and in the winter months and there is a wood burning stove for extra warmth if necessary so it is ideal for Christmas and New Year holidays.

Northern France region

Nord Pas de Calais is a farming area and this becomes apparent as you drive through the countryside and see the vastness of the landscape used for agriculture. The history of the area is in abundance: Montrueil-ser-Mer which is a fortified town made famous by Victor Hugo and Les Miserables. Visit Arras with its history and lovely squares or follow the history of the First and Second World War sites and museums throughout the area. The battlefield at Agincourt is 20 minutes away. The long sandy beaches of the Cote d'Opale and the resort of Le Touquet-Paris-Plage are only 30 mins away. This is famous for its boutique shops and race track and is the resort visited by Parisians.

Hesdin

Hesdin is a pretty market town with the rivers of the Canche and Ternoise meandering through the town. A bustling and colourful market is held on Thursday mornings covering the town square and side streets. Hesdin has a wealth of history and many superb restaurants and cafes. The tourist information office is on the main square. Bikes can be hired in Hesdin square during April to September.

There is a historic chateau and winery at nearby Fressin.

Contes is a quiet peaceful village with its own fishing lake and Laurel House is just 2 minutes walk from Hesdin Forest for walking or cycling.

Activities locally available are horseriding, fishing, canoeing, walking and cycling

"Property name changed to avoid old bad reviews"

We visited this property as Jasmine Farmhouse in Oct 2013, the owners were called Pollock, and were badly let down with appalling internet connection even though we had paid extra, one 2 seat sofa in … More

Dear holiday maker sorry you were disappointed in your stay in October. We changed the name to avoid confusion with our other rental property. We have been in the hospitality business for over 20 years and we always take feedback from guests very seriously and we make continuable updates to the facilities. Rural France is far behind in technology compared to UK - this means the internet service is much slower. Many villages in this area have no internet access at all. As you can see, our other review is completely the opposite to yours and we feel their comments represent the actual standard of our accommodation.
