About the home

Large family farmhouse and enclosed garden offers an ideal base for walking, cycling and relaxing.

1 rue de la creuse is set in the quiet and peaceful little hamlet of Contes.This house is used by the owners for holidays as well as being let. With its gated courtyard parking for several cars set within the seven valleys area with The Forest of Hesdin only a ten minute walk away. Here you can enjoy beautiful walking and cycling through a large coniferous plantation or visit nearby historical places nearby including the Somme area about one hour by car.

The beach at Berck is 40 minutes by car and the chic town of Le Touquet approximately half an hour, with its Parisian shops, Casinos and night life.

The historic town of Hesdin with its typical French square is only 5km away where you will find a wealth of local restaurants and Tabacs around the square catering for the English but maintaining the French atmosphere.

Games room has a pool table, darts board, chess and numerous table games. In addition there is a large book selection.

There are bicycles and enclosed parking for six cars in the front courtyard.

The area is mainly a farming community with many historic towns within easy reach.

The sandy beaches of Berck are within easy reach.

The trenches and museums from the battle fields of the Somme are little more than an hour away. Combine a visit to the Somme with some wine tasting at various vineyards in the area.

The Hesdin / Contes area

Hesdin's open market held every Thursday morning is a must for local produce and clothing. Weekly markets are held on different days in most local towns demonstrating true French ambience.

The forest of Hesdin, and the surrounding area covering the seven valleys region, is famous for it rivers lakes and walks.

“Great family holiday - home from home.” This is a real home from home. We travelled with children and a grandparent. The accommodation was just right. The Barn bedroom and ensuite are almost a separate wing, so part of the family can tuck themselves away if they want. The games room was well used by us all - darts and pool. The table tennis was also frequently used. The kitchen and utility room were both well equipped, and we liked the 'use stuff in the cupboards, but please replace policy'. The location is very quiet, and everything is a car ride away so if you can't just pop to the shop, but this suited us. There were lots of interesting places to visit and the Forest is on the doorstep. We had a great week, and would have no hesitation in returning.
