Situated just steps away from both secluded coves and a 12 km stretch of pristine beach. The cliff path begins meters from the the house and follows the bay round to Hermanus village. The interior is designed in the simple luxurious elegance of a by-gone age. The best months for seeing whales are September till November. The best summer months are November till April, although the Indian Summer in May, is favoured by many. Hermanus is a 150 year old fishing village, which became a premier holiday destination on the South African coast 100 years ago and still remains one of the most popular sea-side spots. Hermanus areaLa Gratitude is about 90 minutes drive from Cape Town, in an easterly direction along the garden route. It is 15 minutes drive from Hermanus village, perched above the famous beaches in the area. Hermanus, has many good restaurants, a ethnic craft market and a good range of shops. The southern most tip of Africa is a few hours drive further along the coast. Fine wines can be tasted at a number of Cape wineries within 30 minutes drive. A huge range of out-door activities are all within easy range. Fernkloof nature reserve with its rich vynbos (indigenous flora) provides excellent hikes into the mountain behind the house. There is a lagoon, on which a range of water sports are to be had, including windsurfing, water skiing and sailing. The cliff path starts meters in front of the house. The best land based whale watching in the world can be had from the cliff path or from the house itself. Hermanus has a popular 18 hole golf course and the Arabella golf estate is 30 mins drive away. How to get there-Hermanus is 90 minutes drive from Cape Town and Cape Town international Airport. Drive east on the N2 and take the turn off to Hermanus. Hirecars are available at the airport.
