You’ll love a holiday spent at The Granary, a charming cottage of great character that also offers all the convenience and comfort of modern furnishings and fittings. The property is a 19th Century detached barn conversion that occupies a privileged spot in the grounds of the owner's 28-acre smallholding between Abbey Dore and Peterchurch. Gorgeous countryside is all around, and the cottage offers scenic views of the valley below. The accommodation includes one king-size bedroom with an en-suite featuring a power shower, a modern kitchen with breakfast bar, and a welcoming and cosy sitting room with a wood-burning stove. The Granary also offers a pleasant paddock area outside which affords breathtaking views of the mountains beyond.

Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Off road parking for 2 cars. Lockable bike storage. A quarter acre mowed paddock with picnic table and scenic views. Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Shop and pub 3 miles, farm shop 400 yards. Note: Due to the spiral staircase, this property may not be suitable for the elderly or infirm. Note: This property accepts babes-in-arms only.

The village lies on the River Dore near the Welsh Border, and is surrounded by stunning natural scenery, including the Black Mountains, gently rolling hills, attractive orchards, and cornfields. The close proximity of Offa’s Dyke and the Wye Valley makes the village popular with walkers. Peterchurch boasts a small number of restaurants and pubs, and 10 miles away you will find Hay-on-Wye, famous for its annual literary festival which draws figures from the literary world and many book enthusiasts. You will also find a wonderful choice of over 30 bookshops, antique shops, superb pubs and great restaurants.

“DISAPPOINTING NOT GREAT” The property was not quite as described. It was stated that there is off road parking for two cars. There was no allocated parking made available to us and we had to park next to property on the road which was shared by the owners, their neighbours and noisy farm vehicles in the evenings. The property was not very comfortable apart from the bed which was lovely. It was sited opposite a converted holiday let barn belonging to the same owners, which sleeps ten. The occupants (6 adults &2 children) that were there at the same time as us were noisy and were not friendly and also very dominant in as much as they hogged the picnic tables and recreational area which was unfortunately supposed to be shared. It would have been nice to sit in the peace and quiet in the evening sunshine. They spent a lot of time walking past our let trying to find signals on mobile phones. The let could have been cleaner; there was little privacy from the barn as there were no curtains or blind on the window facing it. The kitchen cupboards were not very clean and neither was the cutlery. Mugs were stored upside down leaving stick rings on the shelves. We had an invasion of ants in the kitchen. The bathroom smelt badly of mildew and the sink plug did not seal. There no proper wardrobe although there was a small cupboard in the boiler room with just 2 hangers. In fairness, the owners were lovely and friendly. We wanted a little "get away" for some peace and quiet but we did not get it here, which is a shame as the views from the let were fantastic.

“Our time at the Granary was better than we could have hoped for.” The Granary is in a perfect location for visiting many of the historical attractions in the area. It is in a beautiful area. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. We had everything we needed.... more

Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday.

"Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.
