My husband and I stayed at Warren Cottage a few weeks ago for the weekend whilst visiting family who have recently moved to the area. It's a very comfy and cosy cottage at the end of a farm track, nestled in the hillside by Aconbury Woods, which is owned by the Duchy of Cornwall. It was the perfect spot for us as we had our 2 dogs with us (checked with owner first) so the fenced garden and woodland on the doorstep were ideal. The cottage reminded us of a National Trust one we stayed in last year - a lovely old woodman's cottage, very nicely furnished with a woodburner in the lounge (logs supplied) and two sofas, the dining area and kitchen are open plan with good basic facilities (no dishwasher or washing machine fitted but that was fine for us). There is no TV, which made a nice change - we had, however, brought our own laptop so we could watch DVDs in the evenings. There's a very smart digital radio provided and a selection of books and local tourist info. The bathroom is downstairs with seperate loo all nicely appointed. There is no shower but the bath has a shower attachment, which worked just as well so not a problem. There are two bedrooms upstairs (double and single) and the double had a nice comfy bed and feather pillows, cotton bedding and, best of all, a great view over the hills. It's the perfect place for a real rural getaway and the woods on the doorstep are a great bonus. The owners live on a farm set back some way across a field. We met one of the owners, Nettie, who was very friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back next time we're visiting the family! |

I stayed at Warren Cottage with my wife and 6 month old baby In April 2012. We were looking for somewhere to relax in a countryside location. Warren Cottage offers the perfect retreat. It is located next to woodland which provides a wonderful place to explore. The cottage itself is well maintained and warm. The wood burning stove kept us all very cosy during our stay. The owners were really lovely and welcoming. Their home is located across a large field. Warren cottage is completely separate and offers total privacy. We arranged for a Sainsbury's food delivery for the first day we arrived. It is worth doing this. However, there is a local shop a few miles away and ASDA in Hereford which is about 5 miles away. Don't be put off by the comments about the road leading up to the cottage. Yes, it is a little bumpy, but even in our small car, it was not a problem. We will definitely be returning to Warren Cottage. I strongly encourage you to stay here if you want an opportunity to relax and visit this beautiful part of the country. Enjoy! Response: Thank you for giving us such a positive review; we really like to share our lovely secluded spot with other people. We look forward to seeing you and your family again. |
